Filipino-American singer Jessica Sanchez is set to make a powerful comeback to the ‘America’s Got Talent’ (AGT) stage, nearly 20 years after first appearing as a wide-eyed 10-year-old contestant during the show’s inaugural season in 2006.

Now 28 and a globally recognized vocalist, Sanchez returns to ‘AGT’ as the hit talent show marks its 20th anniversary season, set to premiere on May 27 on NBC.
“Being 10 years old on AGT played such a massive role in me believing in something bigger for myself, for my voice,” Sanchez reflected in a heartfelt Instagram post. “What a huge blessing it is to be able to come back and chase after my dreams again after 20 years. Can’t wait to see what God has in store for me ❤️.”
Though she didn’t reach the grand finals in her first ‘AGT’ run — eliminated in the semifinals as a wildcard act — the experience served as a pivotal moment in her young career. She later gained widespread acclaim as the runner-up in ‘American Idol’ Season 11, where her vocal prowess captivated millions.
Fans have expressed overwhelming support for her ‘AGT’ return, with one commenting, “I’m so incredibly proud of you, Jessica!! I can’t wait to see you on my screen again!! I’ll always be here to support you, 13 years & counting!!”

Her return to ‘AGT’ follows a string of recent milestones. In 2023, Sanchez traveled to the Philippines to perform at the Miss Universe Philippines pageant, reconnecting with her roots and delighting local fans. “I love being back. It’s been so long because of the whole COVID pandemic. I missed my grandparents the most for sure — but also the people, the culture, the food,” she said in a PUSH Bets interview.
In 2022, Sanchez also released the empowering single ‘Baddie.’ Discussing its message, she said, “The song is all about being confident, knowing who you are, what you want, and your worth.”
As ‘AGT’ celebrates two decades of discovering talent, Sanchez’s return is expected to be one of the season’s most emotional highlights. The premiere will feature a star-studded lineup, including new performers from around the world and a special ‘AGT Hall of Fame’ retrospective.
