Kathryn Bernardo couldn’t help but laugh out loud after being caught off guard by the title of Esay Belanio’s song during the May 17 episode of ‘Pilipinas Got Talent’ Season 7.
The 19-year-old rock artist had just delivered a fiery, angst-filled rendition of her original track ‘Nagloko Ka Rin Naman,’ which impressed all four judges—Freddie “FMG” Garcia, Donny Pangilinan, Eugene Domingo, and Kathryn herself.
“What’s up, rockstar? That performance was so powerful,” Kathryn told Esay during the judges’ comments. “Can I just say, the sacrifice your parents made for you is so worth it. They believed in you, and now you’re here on Pilipinas Got Talent. We all believe in you.”
Just as Kathryn was about to wrap up her praise, curiosity got the better of her.
She asked casually, “Yung kanina mong kinanta, sorry, anong title ‘non?”
Esay, without missing a beat, replied: “Nagloko Ka Rin Naman.”
Kathryn’s reaction was pure gold—eyes wide, she turned to Donny Pangilinan with a mix of surprise and laughter, prompting the host-actor to burst out laughing as well.
“Tapos ikaw pa ang nagtanong?” Donny teased, clearly enjoying the moment.
Eugene Domingo, too, found it hilarious and gave Kathryn a playful pat on the shoulder as she tried to recover from her unexpected reaction.
“Kasi pinatanong nila sa akin, ‘Nagloko ka rin naman?!’ Atsutsu!” Kathryn exclaimed with mock drama, still laughing. “Ganda,” she turned back to Esay. “Good job. Congratulations!”
Despite the comic moment, it was a major night for Esay—her passionate performance and inspiring backstory led Donny Pangilinan to hit the Golden Buzzer, securing her a spot in the live semi-finals and capping off an unforgettable audition phase.
