Good news for Filipino travelers!
Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has officially extended its visa-free entry program for Philippine passport holders until 2026.
The announcement was made by Taiwanese Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung on June 13 during the Philippine Independence Day celebration hosted by the Manila Economic and Cultural Office (MECO) in Taipei. According to Lin, the move reflects Taiwan’s commitment to strengthening its ties with the Philippines.
“To continue to deepen bilateral ties between Taiwan and the Philippines, I announce that Taiwan will extend the visa-free entry program for Filipino nationals for one year,” he said.
In 2023, Taiwan recorded around 415,000 tourist arrivals from the Philippines — the highest number from any Southeast Asian country. Additionally, approximately 160,000 Filipino migrant workers are currently residing and working in Taiwan, contributing to key sectors of society.
Taiwan first launched the visa-free entry privilege for Filipinos on September 29, 2022, initially set to end on July 31, 2023. It was then extended until July 31, 2024, and now, following the June 13 announcement, has been further extended until 2026.
Taiwan also expressed hope that the Philippine government would consider offering similar visa-free access to Taiwanese travelers in the spirit of mutual cooperation.
