Director Darryl Yap took to social media on July 3 to express his frustration over an incident involving his mother and a doctor at a clinic in Olongapo City, Zambales.

According to Yap, his mother was allegedly disrespected by a medical professional at Medical City SM Olongapo Central simply because she was dressed in casual attire—a t-shirt and shorts—during her consultation.
Yap sarcastically asked his Facebook followers where his mother could “rent an evening gown” for her next appointment, hinting at the perceived judgment she received based on her clothing. “Kasi binastos siya ng Doktor sa Medical City SM Olongapo Central dahil naka-shorts at t-shirt lang siya; eh babalik ulit siya bukas, para sana sweet na yung doktor sa kanya,” the director wrote.
The post quickly drew attention online, sparking conversations around patient treatment and professionalism in medical settings. In the comments section, Yap also tagged Olongapo City Mayor Rolen C. Paulino Jr. and Zambales First District Congressman Jay Khonghun, calling on local leaders to take notice of the issue.
An unnamed individual familiar with the clinic confirmed in Yap’s comments that his mother had waited for nearly an hour before seeing the doctor. The same source claimed that several other patients had previously raised concerns about the doctor’s demeanor, although no actions had reportedly been taken to address those complaints.
In response to the situation, Yap shared that he had contacted the clinic’s management. He was told that a meeting would be arranged between his mother and the doctor in question to clarify and hopefully resolve the matter.
This incident has opened up wider discussions about how patients are treated in healthcare environments.
