Maine Mendoza took to her Instagram broadcast channel Maine Content to reflect on her journey and clarify lingering stories surrounding her career—most notably, her ‘Pinoy Big Brother’ audition experience in 2015 and the absence of Alden Richards in the newly launched ‘Kalyeserye’ podcast.

“First Kalyeserye podcast episode is out!” Maine shared. “As we mark a decade since Kalyeserye, we thought it’d be special to share some untold behind-the-scenes stories that made Kalyeserye the remarkable phenomenon it was and the lasting legacy it continues to be.”
“Looking back after a decade, it’s nostalgic to remember the magic that took us all by surprise. Tara’t mag baliktanaw,” she added.
But Maine, who rose to fame as Yaya Dub in ‘Eat Bulaga’s’ ‘Kalyeserye’ segment, admitted that despite her excitement, expressing herself verbally remains a challenge.
“If you really know me, you’d know that speaking is not my strongest suit,” she wrote. “For some reason, out of kaba and fear of saying the wrong things, I find it hard to express my thoughts well out loud.
“And it frustrates me because there are so many stories and thoughts I wanted to share in this podcast but I struggled to articulate them the way I wanted.
“Kung sa pagsusulat, kaya ko. But verbalizing my thoughts, especially with an audience, has always been something I find really challenging to do effectively,” she said.
“There are some topics where I tried sharing my story the best I could but I still had a hard time expressing my thoughts clearly. That said, I hope they don’t get misunderstood,” she added.
One of the topics Maine addressed was the popular story about her ‘PBB’ audition in 2015. She made it clear that the opportunity came from an independent offer—not directly from ABS-CBN or the ‘PBB’ team.
“Just to be clear about the PBB story: I was invited to audition by this person who wanted to manage me. Siya lang ang naglatag ng ‘plans’ NIYA for me. He introduced himself as a lawyer and a talent manager, but as far as I remember, he is not affiliated with PBB or ABS-CBN in any way,” she clarified.
“Since I knew nothing about the industry, I was taken aback by the instant contract offer from an alleged talent manager and I almost accepted it. Buti nalang kasama ko si Tatay,” she recalled.
Finally, Maine addressed Alden Richards’ absence from the podcast, following questions from fans.

“For those wondering and asking, Alden was invited to the podcast but he had a prior commitment and wasn’t able to join us. Next time!” she assured.
With the ‘Kalyeserye’ podcast kicking off its first episode and Maine sharing her side of the story, fans are getting a closer, more personal look at the journey behind one of the country’s most iconic love teams and viral TV phenomena.
