Unilab marks 80th year with health and wellness day, Php250K donation to PBDN

Unilab, Inc. (Unilab), the country’s largest pharmaceutical company, kicked off its 80th anniversary celebration with the launch of Alagang Unilab Para sa Lahat Health and Wellness Day at Robinsons Galleria Ortigas, Metro Manila.

The one-day event treated participants and mallgoers to health-related activities, wellness services, and access to Unilab’s specially priced products.

A highlight of the event was the symbolic turnover of ₱250,000 to the Philippine Business Disability Network (PBDN), an organization supported by Southstar Drug as part of its advocacy for empowering persons with disabilities (PWDs). More than ceremonial, the donation underscored Unilab’s and Robinsons’ shared commitment to inclusivity and support for every Filipino, regardless of circumstance.

“This symbolic turnover is more than just a gesture; it reflects the two companies’ mutual commitment to inclusivity, regardless of circumstance,” Unilab said in a statement.

Present at the ceremony were Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. President and CEO Stanley C. Co, Robinsons Retail Holdings Inc. President and CEO Robina Gokongwei, Unilab President and CEO Sebastian Baquiran, Unilab Corporate Vice President and Head of Sales and Corporate Development Carmelo Villaroman, and a representative from PBDN.

Unilab also renewed its long-standing partnership with Robinsons Retail Group’s Southstar Drug and Rose Pharmacy, unveiling programs anchored on four campaign pillars:

  • SMART MEDS Program with Maxicare – providing members exclusive offers and seamless access to medicines at Southstar Drug and Rose Pharmacy branches.
  • Online Exclusives – boosting Southstar and Rose’s digital presence with thematic deals and promos.
  • Alagang Para sa Lahat Raffle Promo – offering prizes such as ₱8,000 cash prizes for 80 winners, ₱1 million grand prize (Southstar), and Unilab product bundles (Rose Pharmacy). Promo runs from October 1 to December 31, 2025.
  • Advocacies and CSR Partnerships – continuing projects that reinforce healthcare accessibility and inclusivity.

The 80th anniversary celebration will extend to Cebu on October 25, 2025, when Rose Pharmacy leads another Alagang Unilab Para sa Lahat Health and Wellness Day at Robinsons Galleria Cebu. The event will again feature wellness services, engaging activities, and discounted Unilab products—bringing the spirit of alaga closer to Cebuanos.

Founded in 1945 as United Drug Co., Inc. in Binondo, Manila, Unilab has grown from a small drugstore into an industry leader. Its 80th year is anchored on the values of Husay, Malasakit, and Bayanihan—a legacy that continues to shape its promise of providing quality, accessible healthcare to all Filipinos.

“For eight decades, [Unilab] has stood for excellence, compassion, and collective care. Alaga is more than care—it is a real, intentional, and shared commitment,” Baquiran said, reaffirming the company’s mission to serve not only the privileged but also the vulnerable.
