A social media firestorm erupted over the weekend after Resty Rosell, the longtime personal assistant of Heart Evangelista, publicly called out Vice Ganda for allegedly making misleading statements about helping rebuild a “bulok na eskwelahan” in Evangelista’s home province.
The controversy began after Vice shared an anecdote during the October 24 episode of ‘It’s Showtime’, where he talked about assisting a school in what he referred to as “the province of Heart Evangelista.”
“May pinuntahan akong lugar doon sa probinsya nina Heart Evangelista, isang paaralan na walang reading materials. Pinagawa ko ‘yung eskwelahan… Bulok ‘yong paaralan doon. I cried so much when I saw that school,” said Vice Ganda during the broadcast.
The statement quickly made rounds online — and did not sit well with Rosell, who took to Instagram Stories to refute the comedian’s claims and defend her employer.
Rosell alleged that Vice exaggerated his involvement in the school project, claiming the comedian merely contributed funds to an existing initiative by the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Bagacay Elementary School in Sorsogon.
“Hindi ka nagpagawa ng paaralan/classroom. Nag-ambag ka lang sa isang ongoing project sa PTA ng Bagacay Elem. School,” she wrote. “Inako mo lahat ng credit, na-echapwera ang PTA na nagbayad rin naman doon sa pagpapagawa ng classroom. Tapos nilagay mo pa sa channel mo, at monetized!”
In another post, Rosell accused Vice of using the narrative for clout while naming Heart unnecessarily.
“Kaya naman sa susunod, ‘wag mo idamay si Heart. Kung classroom pala ang issue mo, dumulog ka sa DepEd. Bakit mo kailanganing pangalanan si Heart na wala namang ginawa sa’yo? Sa tingin mo hindi siya tumutulong sa tao? Baka maiyak ka na lang kung sasabihin ko sa’yo,” she said.
Rosell further criticized the It’s Showtime host for allegedly portraying the school as neglected despite knowing it was already under renovation at the time of his visit.
She clarified that the facility already had reading materials and that some of the supplies Vice mentioned donating — such as papers and medicines — were actually products from a beauty brand he endorses.
In a separate post, Rosell fumed: “Ginawang content ang nananahimik na probinsya para sa clout. Gamit gamit pa si Heart Evangelista! Ipagtatanggol nyo lang naman siya. Pero ang mga taga-Sorsogon na sinabihang bulok ang paaralan? Di ba wala kayong masabi?”
As some netizens began criticizing her for the outburst, Rosell appeared unfazed.
“Sa mga bashers ko, pinasisikat niyo lang ako. Mamaya magising kayo sikat na sikat na rin ako,” she quipped in another Instagram Story.
As of press time, Heart Evangelista and Vice Ganda have yet to release official statements regarding the issue.
