Teatro Meron launches its pilot season “Ang Medea”, a powerful restaging of Euripides’ timeless tragedy rendered in Filipino by National Artist Rolando S. Tinio. Fresh from last year’s sold-out and critically acclaimed run, this production returns with renewed urgency and a stellar cast of theatre veterans led by Miren Alvarez-Fabregas as Medea, with Teroy Guzman, Yan Yuzon, Bryan Sy, Joseph dela Cruz, Katski Flores, Gold Soon, Pickles Leonidas and Joel Macaventa.
Critics hailed the previous staging for its unflinching exploration of female rage and dignity—calling the production “feminist at its core” and praising a “powerhouse cast” that brings Tinio’s translation to fierce life. Audiences can expect a gripping, emotionally intense Medea that foregrounds grief, exile, and the devastating cost of vengeance.
At the helm of this production is Ron Capinding, founder and artistic director of Teatro Meron. A veteran actor, director, and educator, Capinding is known for his work in advancing Filipino-language theater that bridges the classical and the contemporary. His vision for Teatro Meron is to create transformative performances that challenge audiences to confront timeless human truths through a distinctly Filipino lens.
Performances run November 13–28, 2025, at the The Mind Museum, Special Exhibition Hall, Bonifacio Global City. Tickets and schedules (3:00 PM / 7:00 PM / 8:00 PM) are available via Ticket2Me.
