Kapuso actor Kokoy de Santos revealed that he remains single in 2026, admitting that a painful experience of being cheated on by a former girlfriend left him emotionally shaken and affected his career choices.
During his recent guest appearance on ‘Fast Talk with Boy Abunda’, where he appeared alongside his ‘House of Lies’ co-stars Mike Tan and Martin del Rosario, de Santos was asked why he has not been in a relationship for quite some time.
“May isang point sa buhay na nawala ako since first time ko sigurong ma-in love. Binuhos ko lahat, pinaikot ko ang mundo ko sa kanya,” the actor shared.
He recalled that the relationship lasted for several years before he discovered that his then-girlfriend had cheated on him.
“Pero eventually, siguro ilang years din kami noon. Nalaman ko kasi na nag-cheat. Parang binagsakan ako ng mundo rin, na parang, binigay ko rito lahat, tinalikuran ko,” he said.
De Santos admitted that the heartbreak was so overwhelming that it affected his professional decisions.
“Umabot ako sa point na tumatanggi ako sa mga project na dati ako naghahabol,” he added.
Despite the trauma, the actor said he is not closing his doors to love. While he is not actively looking for a relationship, he remains open should the right person come along.
“Hindi naman ako naghahanap. ‘Di rin naman ako tumatanggi,” de Santos said, adding with a laugh that if love does come his way, “Akin na!”
For now, he said his priority is self-growth and focusing on his personal goals.
“Siguro, focus lang talaga sa goal ngayon. Kung ano man ‘yung gusto kong gawin,” he said.
De Santos can next be seen in the GMA Afternoon Prime series ‘House of Lies’, which premieres on January 19 at 3:20 p.m.
