Senator Sherwin Gatchalian has once again fueled speculation about the status of his relationship with beauty queen-actress Bianca Manalo after describing his love life as “non-existent” during a recent television interview.
The remark came during Gatchalian’s appearance on ‘On Point’ on the Bilyonaryo News Channel, where he was interviewed by veteran broadcast journalist Korina Sanchez on Wednesday, January 21, 2026. While the discussion largely focused on corruption issues involving the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Sanchez slipped in a final, more personal question before the interview ended.
“One last question, your love life, how is it?” Sanchez asked.
Gatchalian replied quickly and bluntly, “It’s non-existent.”
The unexpected response visibly surprised Sanchez, who laughed and said, “I’m kidding. I didn’t think you would even answer.” The senator simply laughed along, offering no further clarification.
The short exchange immediately set social media abuzz, with netizens interpreting Gatchalian’s answer as a possible confirmation that he and Manalo are no longer together. As of this writing, Manalo has yet to issue any statement regarding the senator’s remark.
Adding to the speculation, fans have noticed that Gatchalian has not appeared in Manalo’s recent Instagram posts since late 2025. The two were also reported to have spent Christmas 2024 separately—something unusual for the couple, who had previously celebrated the holiday together in past years.
Rumors of a rift between the two first surfaced in December 2023, when Manalo was linked to her ‘Magandang Dilag’ co-star Rob Gomez. Screenshots of alleged private conversations involving Gomez, Manalo, and Herlene Budol circulated online, sparking controversy. Manalo later claimed that parts of her conversations had been “deleted” and taken out of context to suggest wrongdoing.
At the height of the issue, Gatchalian chose not to comment publicly but made it clear at the time that he was supporting Manalo. However, breakup rumors resurfaced in January 2025 when the senator again declined to address questions about his personal life.
“Alam niyo naman hindi ako nagko-comment sa personal life ko,” he said then.
Gatchalian and Manalo have been romantically linked since 2018.
