Vice Ganda once again dismissed speculation about a possible political run in the 2028 national elections, stressing that she has no intention of entering politics despite growing calls from supporters and fellow celebrities.

The topic resurfaced during the January 23 episode of ‘It’s Showtime,’ when co-host Anne Curtis jokingly encouraged Vice to consider running for public office.
“Alam mo, dapat tumakbo ka kaya. Iboboto kita,” Anne said on air.
Vice immediately shut down the suggestion, responding with humor while making her stance clear. “Alam mo, tama na. Kasi bata pa lang ako, takbo na ako nang takbo sa Sta. Ana hanggang pagtanda ko ba naman,” she said, referring to the horse races she used to frequent in Makati.
She went on to address the growing chatter online, saying the jokes have already attracted unnecessary backlash. “Hoy, itigil n’yo na nga ‘yang mga takbo-takbo na ‘yan. Bina-bash tuloy ako ng wala akong ginagawa,” she added.
Vice then delivered her now-viral line: “I’m a beauty queen. I’m not a politician.” The remark drew laughter from her co-hosts Vhong Navarro and Jhong Hilario, who jokingly chanted “Pres. Ganda” in the background.
Despite the lighthearted tone, Vice asked the public not to take the banter seriously. “Tama na ’yang biro-biro. Nagbibiruan lang po kami ritong magkakapatid. Huwag po kayong nagpapaniwala. Akala nila totoong tatakbo ako,” she said, warning that political supporters might misinterpret the jokes.
Calls for Vice to consider a presidential bid gained traction earlier this year after award-winning writer Jerry Gracio publicly urged her to run in 2028, citing her connection with the masses and lack of ties to political dynasties. Renowned filmmaker Lav Diaz also echoed similar sentiments, suggesting she could be a strong challenger to Sara Duterte, who is widely expected to seek the presidency.
Vice, however, has consistently rejected the idea. In a previous interview with Karen Davila, the comedian explained that politics is not where her heart lies, despite being vocal about social and governance issues.
“Hindi siya bukal sa kalooban ko. Hindi siya ang gusto ng puso ko,” Vice said at the time, adding that public service requires full and lifelong commitment.
