Transgender woman Sofia Trazona has addressed the controversial religious remarks made by her stepfather, Alvin Aragon, which triggered widespread backlash online.

Aragon, husband of former SexBomb member Izzy Trazona, recently drew criticism after making strong statements condemning homosexuality, saying members of the LGBTQIA+ community would be punished by God.
In a vlog interview with Ogie Diaz, Sofia said she remains respectful toward Alvin despite being deeply hurt by his words.
“I respect you kasi asawa ka ng nanay ko, and hindi magbabago ‘yun,” she said. “Let’s just keep it that way kasi nasaktan na rin ako eh.”
She admitted that defending him would be difficult.
“Kung gusto ko man siya idefend, mahihirapan ako, grabe niya rin i-condemn ang mga bakla. Ang ironic naman na sa’kin manggagaling.”
Sofia shared that she does not take judgment personally because of her own faith.
“I believe na I’m only answerable to God alone, siya lang ang pwedeng mang-judge sakin.”
She added: “The word of God doesn’t condemn people, kasi mahal nga tayo ng Diyos.”
Still, she acknowledged feeling degraded by the remarks.
“Grabe naman ‘yung tingin sa amin. Hindi naman kami nagnakaw. Hindi naman kami pumatay ng tao. Nagtatrabaho naman kami nang maayos. Wala naman kaming tinatapakan na ibang tao.”
Despite differences in belief, Sofia said she remains confident in her mother’s love.
“Kahit naman strong-willed yung faith ni mama, alam ko na tinuturing niya pa rin akong anak.”
She explained that their paths simply diverged as she became independent.
“Sadyang naghiwalay lang ‘yung landas namin dahil naging independent na nga rin ako.”
In 2023, Izzy previously posted on social media expressing her disapproval of Sofia being a drag queen, saying she wanted to protect her children from “going against the faith I have in Christ.”
Sofia also shared in the interview that her biological father fully supports and embraces her identity.
As of writing, Aragon has not issued a new statement in response to Sofia’s latest remarks.
