Jamie Rivera counters anti-LGBTQ+ remarks; Alvin Aragon responds

Singer Jamie Rivera has spoken out against claims that members of the LGBTQIA+ community are destined for hell, sharing her personal experiences and beliefs during a recent interview.

Rivera expressed disagreement with such statements, emphasizing her deep respect and gratitude toward the LGBTQ+ community, whom she credits for supporting her early in her career.

“I would disagree with that. I only have gratitude and great respect for the LGBTQ community,” she said.

The singer recalled how several individuals from the community helped her when she was just starting out in the industry.

“In my humble beginnings, Boy Navarrete did my makeup for free up until the time that I could already afford to pay,” she shared. “Arnold Galang dressed me up. He was the one who gave me my costumes […] As I said earlier, Kuya Boy, you were my publicist and you didn’t ask for anything.”

Rivera described them as “angels” who protected and guided her, shaping her belief that kindness and compassion matter more than judgment.

“They protected me. So what is there to judge if you’re surrounded by angels? Sila ‘yung mga tumulong sa akin. For me, they will go to heaven. That is my point of view,” she added.

However, Rivera’s remarks drew a response from former actor Alvin Aragon, who reiterated his stance through a social media post.

“Jamie Rivera. Ang goodworks apart from Jesus Christ ay parang maruming basahan,” Aragon wrote.

“Hindi sila makakarating sa langit dahil nilibre ka nila.”

“If they believe in the gospel they will go to heaven pero kung puro goodworks lang without believing in Jesus Christ they will go to eternal separation from God. Sa hell sila Jamie Rivera,” he added.
