Japan’s NEO EXILE Collective Signals a New Chapter for J-POP in Southeast Asia

Following a series of landmark performances across the region, NEO EXILE—the powerhouse collective from LDH JAPAN—is cementing its position as a new face of J-POP in Southeast Asia. Comprised of four distinct groups (LIL LEAGUE from EXILE TRIBE, KID PHENOMENON from EXILE TRIBE, THE JET BOY BANGERZ from EXILE TRIBE, and WOLF HOWL HARMONY from EXILE TRIBE), the collective represents the next chapter of the “EXILE” legacy, originally built by EXILE—the legendary Japanese vocal and dance group known for selling over 15 million albums, staging sold-out dome tours, and consistently dominating Japan’s music charts. Through a “Global-First” strategy, NEO EXILE blends Tokyo’s cutting-edge style with a deep commitment to regional fans.

At their core, the collective carries forward the legacy of senior groups such as EXILE and the enduring philosophy of “Love, Dream, Happiness (LDH),” a guiding principle that has shaped LDH since its inception. While each group brings its own identity and sound, they share a new-generation mindset—highly attuned to trends, creatively involved in their work, and constantly exploring new ideas. This combination of artistic creativity and strong performance ability defines NEO EXILE’s evolving identity on the global stage.

Breaking Barriers Through Language and Presence

What sets NEO EXILE apart is their commitment to transcending linguistic and physical barriers. Following WOLF HOWL HARMONY’s recent “Best Boy Group” win at the Asia Top Awards 2025 and KID PHENOMENON’s breakthrough showcase at SXSW 2026, the collective is doubling down on its “Global-First” creative strategy.

“We’ve always had a global perspective… incorporating more English lyrics into our songs to better communicate our message to audiences around the world,” says KENSUKE SOREMATSU (KID PHENOMENON). This is echoed by RYOJI (WOLF HOWL HARMONY), who notes their recent track “Gachi Funk” features Japanese, English, and Portuguese: “From the creative stage, we are consciously taking on the challenge of delivering our music in a way that resonates more globally.”

Meet the Next Generation of J-Pop

WOLF HOWL HARMONY: Vocal Strength Meets Global Sound

As the only vocal and rap-focused unit within NEO EXILE, WOLF HOWL HARMONY is rapidly carving out a global niche, with particularly strong momentum in Thailand and Brazil. This international rise reached a major milestone in 2025 when they secured Best Boy Group at the Asia Top Awards, a definitive milestone that signaled their transition from local favorites to global contenders. On April 1st, the group revealed their new project, “CLOUD DREAM project” under G&LDH. This project features WHH and FLIO, which consists of three Thai artists under GMM TV.

The group’s connection to Latin America has also intensified recently. Engagement from Brazilian fans has surged—a trend bolstered by member GHEE, whose Brazilian heritage provides a deep, authentic bridge between the group and the Brazilian audience.

LIL LEAGUE: The Face of “Next-Gen J-pop”

With an average age of just 18, LIL LEAGUE embodies the youthful energy of Japan’s next-generation pop movement. Despite their age, the group has already completed three hall tours, demonstrating strong fan support and impressive stage experience.

The group recently released their album NEOMATIC, showcasing their evolving sound, alongside their latest track LILMATIC—a hip-hop track inspired by Beethoven’s Für Elise that blends classical elements with their vibrant, youthful pop identity.

As they expand globally, LIL LEAGUE is poised to bring a fresh wave of J-pop to audiences worldwide.

KID PHENOMENON: A Global Mindset from the Start

KID PHENOMENON is a seven-member dance and vocal group representing “TOKYO NEO POP,” a new-generation cultural movement emerging from Tokyo. Debuting in August 2023, the group brings together young talent with a distinctive performance style, aiming to create a new phenomenon from Tokyo to the world.

As the sonic embodiment of “TOKYO NEO POP,” they blend futuristic production with the relentless energy of Japan’s urban landscape. They quickly gained international attention, highlighted by their performance at SXSW (South by Southwest) in Austin, Texas—one of the world’s most influential platforms for emerging artists. Known for their dynamic performances and forward-looking sound, the group reflects NEO EXILE’s global ambitions through multilingual songwriting and a style designed to resonate with international audiences.

Building on this momentum, the group recently released their seventh single “Mirror,” further showcasing their evolving sound and expanding their global reach.

THE JET BOY BANGERZ: Performance Powerhouse

Known for their explosive stage presence, THE JET BOY BANGERZ (TJBB) stand out as the collective’s performance specialists. Featuring members who are professional dancers from Japan’s professional dance league D.LEAGUE, the group delivers precision choreography and high-octane stage production—an approach they call their signature “Jet-Engine” performance style.

Their global ambitions were recently spotlighted through a performance on America’s Got Talent, introducing their dynamic stage presence to a wider international audience. The group recently released their latest single “HEAD UP introduced by Zeebra” and is set to hold their first hall tour later this year.

A Global-First Future for J-Pop

As NEO EXILE expands its footprint across Southeast Asia, the collective represents more than a new generation of artists—it signals a shift in how J-Pop connects with international audiences. Through multilingual music and a strong regional presence, they are building a bridge between Tokyo’s music scene and the world.

As SORA NAMBA of LIL LEAGUE puts it, the magic happens when the music meets the crowd: “You can sing along, jump, dance, and simply enjoy the moment together! For those who haven’t seen us live yet, we would love for you to come experience it in person.”

For THE JET BOY BANGERZ, this connection transcends language barriers entirely. “We strive every day to deliver performances filled with such energy and intensity that they can truly move people—beyond what words can express,” SHOW explains. “For us, performance isn’t just something to show; it’s also a form of communication… Seeing is believing.”

Southeast Asia has quickly emerged as one of the most enthusiastic audiences for NEO EXILE, with growing fan communities across Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

In April 2026, three of the four NEO EXILE groups—LIL LEAGUE, KID PHENOMENON, WOLF HOWL HARMONY—took the stage at the SUPERFLUID 2026 Songkran Music Festival in Bangkok. This appearance marks a major regional milestone, reinforcing the collective’s growing presence across Southeast Asia.
