Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda has broken his silence regarding the controversial remark made by veteran host Joey de Leon about ABS-CBN during a recent episode of ‘Eat Bulaga’.

The issue stemmed from a segment featuring Mister Pampanga 2026 candidate RJ Perkins, where Joey quipped, “Hindi na uso ‘yong abs. Wala na nga ‘yong abs,” before adding, “ABS-CBN pala ‘yon. Sorry, sorry,” prompting backlash from some viewers.

Asked about the controversy during a media interview with the Society of Philippine Entertainment Editors (SPEEd) on April 27, Vice took a measured stance, emphasizing the nature of comedy and audience reactions.
“E, siyempre, hindi natin masasaklawan ang komedyante. Hindi rin natin masasaklawan ang reaksiyon ng mga taong makakarinig ng joke,” he said.
“So, that’s life, ‘di ba? E, komedyante si Sir Joey, nag-joke siya. E, trabaho niya ’yon. Nagjo-joke siya,” he added.
Vice also addressed the ongoing challenges faced by his home network, reiterating his continued support for ABS-CBN.
“E, for the longest time, wala naman akong ibang puwedeng gawin kundi ipagdasal ang ABS-CBN, di ba? Magmula pa noong natanggalan ng prangkisa yan, di ba? So, wala naman akong ibang puwedeng gawin kundi ipagdasal sila at suportahan sila at manatili akong kasama nila habang lumalaban sila sa mga pagsubok nila,” he shared.
He further underscored the broader impact of the network beyond entertainment, particularly in public service.
“The entire country has been served by ABS-CBN, di ba? Hindi lang mga programa nila ang serbisyong naibibigay ng ABS-CBN kundi marami pang ibang mga uri ng serbisyong naibigay sa lipunan ng ABS-CBN,” Vice said.
Highlighting the importance of information dissemination during emergencies, he added:
“Yung simple nga lang, di ba, na pag may mga sakuna, yung parang nawalan ng isang malaking plataporma na nakapagbibigay-alam sa mamamayan tungkol sa mga sitwasyon ng sakuna… Isa yan sa mga sentimyento ng mga tao na, ‘Kasi walang ABS,’ kaya hindi sila masyadong informed, di ba?”
Vice concluded by expressing hope that the network’s challenges will eventually be resolved, noting the benefit it brings to ordinary Filipinos.
“Na yun ang sana, dalangin natin na hindi maputol. Kasi sa ngayon, ang kailangan ng mga Pilipino ay serbisyo hindi lamang sa gobyerno kundi sa iba pang mga tao,” he said.
Despite the controversy, Vice’s response remained grounded, framing the situation within the context of comedy while reaffirming his loyalty to ABS-CBN.
