Star Magic leading man Joshua Garcia took center stage during the Star Magic Spotlight Press Conference held on May 21, 2026, at the Dolphy Theatre, ABS-CBN. Beyond the hype of his upcoming show Love is Never Gone, Joshua offered a reflective look at the wisdom he has gained throughout his 17 years in the business, balancing the technical challenges of filming abroad with the personal growth that comes from long-term industry experience.
Joshua highlighted the unique lessons in adaptability. “Bago ko gawin yun [Love is Never Gone], i’m really excited to do it talaga. Working with Ivana and working again with Direk Manny, tapos sa Morocco pa. Gusto ko kasi kapag nagsshoot kami sa ibang bansa, you get to play and work at the same time. Pwede kang gumala, naexperience mo yung culture ng ibang bansa,” Joshua shared.
Despite his years of expertise, he acknowledged that each project presents new hurdles. When asked if the setting in Morocco affected his acting, he pointed to the external environment as his greatest teacher: “Hindi naman. Siguro yung challenging lang ‘dun, minsan syempre may tumitingin sa camera… ‘dun kami nachallenge. Hindi kami sanay sa kung paano yung mga tao ‘dun, of course ibang-iba sila sa atin, may ibang kultura silang sinusunod dun,” he admitted.
The pressure of a tight international shooting schedule was a taught him focus: “Dito [sa Pilipinas] pwede ka magkamali, ‘dun parang ang hirap magkamali, kasi parang ang limited lang ng time niyo, ang dami pang nangyayari sa paligid mo, tas di ka pa familiar sa lugar.”
Ultimately, Joshua’s deepest takeaway after nearly two decades in the spotlight remains the value of genuine human connection. “Every show na ginagawa ko, mas yung memories and mga tao yung binabaon ko eh. Ang hirap makahanap ng pinagkakatiwalaan mo sa industriya, and ito mga taong to, nandyan para sa’yo, suportahan ka. i think yung memories namin yung binabaon ko sa mga susunod kong show,” the actor expressed sincerely.
He concluded by emphasizing that his longevity in the business is rooted in treating his work as a source of meaningful relationships: “Ang tagal niyong magsasama, hindi mo masasabing work is work lang. Ang ganda nung makapagcreate ka ng relationship with someone din ‘di ba?”
Love is Never Gone is streaming exclusively on Prime Video, releasing new episodes every Friday.
