Actress Angel Castro has spoken candidly about her struggles with depression and the emotional toll of online bashing during her time as a Kapuso actress.

During a recent media conference for her VMX debut, Angel revealed that relentless criticism and hate messages affected her mental health while starring in the GMA Network afternoon drama ‘Nagbabagang Luha.’
“Ang daming haters, death threats, whatever,” she recalled.
According to the actress, viewers often blurred the line between her real-life personality and the antagonist characters she portrayed onscreen.
“Lahat na lang ng mali sa akin nakikita nila. Kahit mga hindi ko nakikita sa sarili ko.”
The emotional burden eventually became too much to handle.
“I went to a shrink and I got diagnosed with depression. I had to take medicine for it. Hindi ko talaga kinaya,” she admitted.
The experience ultimately led her to step away from showbiz for nearly two years.
Instead of viewing the hiatus as a setback, Angel now considers it a necessary period of healing and self-discovery.
“I have recovered. I took two years off and I feel like I really needed it,” she said.
Today, the actress says she has developed a stronger mindset and no longer allows negative comments to define her.
“If you say something bad about me, I’m not gonna believe you. Basta I’m happy with myself.”
As she embarks on a new chapter with VMX, Angel hopes her story will encourage others facing similar struggles to prioritize their mental health and seek help when needed.
