Filinvest City was already buzzing with activity early in the morning as thousands of runners gathered for the EastWest Dream Run 2026. Before the race even started, the venue was filled with runners stretching, warming up, taking photos, and checking in with friends—creating the kind of excitement that could only mean one thing: race day had arrived.

Now in its second year, the EastWest Dream Run opened its four-city series with its Manila leg, welcoming participants with different backgrounds, ages, and running experiences. Some came prepared to chase personal records, while others simply wanted to enjoy a morning of movement with their families and friends. With race categories ranging from 1K to 21K, there was a distance suited for almost everyone.
The pre-race activities immediately set the tone. Group warm-ups and exercises got participants moving while the crowd gradually built up around the starting area. The nervous excitement was noticeable, especially among runners preparing for longer distances. Everyone seemed to have their own goal in mind, whether it was finishing their first race, improving their previous time, or simply making it to the finish line.

I joined the 10K category, which gave me the chance to experience the race alongside hundreds of other participants. Once the run began, the atmosphere changed almost instantly. The conversations and preparations gave way to footsteps, cheers, encouragement from fellow runners, and the steady rhythm of people making their way through the course.
What made the event even more enjoyable was seeing how different the participants were. There were serious runners focused on their pace, groups of friends running together, families supporting one another, and participants who were simply enjoying the experience. Everyone appeared to be moving toward a personal finish line.

The Fur Run was another crowd-pleasing feature. Pet owners were able to bring their furry companions along for shorter-distance categories, adding a playful and heartwarming element to the morning. Dogs running beside their owners became an entertaining sight along the event grounds, while other participants stopped to greet them and capture photos.
After the race, the finish area became a place for celebration. Runners arrived with tired legs but noticeably brighter smiles, exchanging stories about the course and congratulating one another. For many, crossing the finish line represented more than completing a distance—it was a small personal achievement that made the early morning wake-up and effort worthwhile.

The event continued with the awarding ceremonies, recognizing participants from the different categories and giving special attention to the Fur Run participants. The celebrations reflected the inclusive spirit of the event, where achievements came in different forms, and every participant had a reason to be proud.

More than a running competition, the EastWest Dream Run 2026 created an environment where people could move, connect, and challenge themselves at their own pace. From the first warm-up to the final finishers, the event showed how a simple run can bring together thousands of people with completely different stories but one shared experience.
