Mariel de Leon admits she doesn’t regret her comments on Mocha Uson

  • Miss Philippines International 2017 Mariel de Leon admitted she never regretted her negative comment about Mocha Uson.
  • She also shared why she didn’t agree on the said appointment as a public official.
  • She declined any future meetings between her and Mocha Uson.

Miss Philippines International 2017 Mariel de Leon spoke out about her controversial tweet earlier this year on Mocha Uson’s appointment as a public official.

She explained why she didn’t regret her said tweet in Tonight With Boy Abunda last December 11, Monday.

In May 2017, Mariel called Mocha ‘biased and disrespectful’ on Twitter after the latter became the Assistant Secretary of the Presidential Communications Operations Office.

“There are so many other unbiased, educated, and respected (and respectful) people who deserve her place.”

After the said tweet, she received hate from Uson’s supporters. Also, some pageant fans believed that she shouldn’t have commented on political issues because it contributed to her loss in Miss International 2017.

“Biased and disrespectful. She insults those who are against her. I’m not for her, I’m not for the other side (whatever that may be)”

In her interview with Boy, she admitted that she never regretted her comments.

She admitted that at first the topic just became a conversation between her and her friends. Then, she added:

“I didn’t think much about it. It was more of something that I had conversations with my friends about it. And when I posted it, I didn’t think it would have much of an impact.”

Moreover, Boy asked her if she regretted tweeting about the said issue. She answered:

“No. ‘Cause if I didn’t post it then, I wouldn’t be who I am today. I wouldn’t be where I am today with all the things happening right now.”

Boy asked her to elaborate her disagreement on the Mocha’s appointment as a public official.

“Was just being myself, honestly. I just wanted to voice an opinion which I think I have the right to do. I think everyone has the right to do that.”

When Boy asked her if she would want to meet with Mocha in the future, she declined.

“It’s not that I am totally pushing myself away from politics, more of I’m focusing on myself more and the things I can do with my life, and what I want to do with my life.”
