GMA Network’s “Sherlock Jr.” is the latest victim of ABS-CBN’s long-running action series “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” topbilled by Coco Martin.
After airing for at least 3 months (usual one season), “Sherlock Jr.” originally headlined by Gabbi Garcia and Ruru Madrid, with a special participation from Janine Gutierrez, will finally conclude its story this Friday (April 27).
“Sherlock Jr.’s” story revolves around Jack and Irene’s relationship, which then took a new turn once Lily got involved. From then on, the series will take a look at how Lily became friends with Irene one night and then fell in love with Jack in the midst of the investigation surrounding them. Also part of the ‘Sherlock Jr.’ cast are Ai-Ai delas Alas, Tonton Gutierrez, Andre Paras, Roi Vinzon, Sharmaine Arnaiz, Rochelle Barrameda, Matt Evans, Kate Valdez, Alyana Asistio, and Sofia Pablo and directed by Rechie del Carmen.
The Kapuso action-drama series failed to match the standards of its predecessors due to questionable storytelling and poor viewership. The show registered an AGB Nielsen NUTAM rating of 11.4% on its pilot episode while its rival program in ABS-CBN, “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,” got a rating of 12.1%. The show’s ratings eventually dipped down in the succeeding episode while “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” enjoys higher ratings, claiming lead in both ratings provider. In fact, the show’s ratings averaged a paltry 17% (versus 40%) in Kantar Media and average of 9% (versus 13%) in AGB Nielsen NUTAM.
“Sherlock Jr.” will be leaving Philippine TV with only 63 total episodes, could be the shortest-lived teleserye being pitted to “FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano” since its start in 2015.
