Netizens call out ‘Kara Mia’ for blunder in stabbing scene

  • A Kara Mia scene has been called out by netizens for wrong execution.
  • Kadenang Ginto, on the other hand, was praised for their superb execution.

Netizens have once again called out another blunder in a GMA Network series.

Taking a scene from GMA Network’s Kara Mia Facebook page, netizen Fia Escota posted a picture of the stabbing scene of Kara (Barbie Forteza) where blood was exiting her nose when she was stabbed in the stomach.

The scene was also noticed by Twitter user Peachy Mejia who questioned why the blood was flowing from the nose of Forteza.

This was not the first time that a GMA Network series has been criticized for its wrong depiction of scenes with medically-related effects.

One episode of Karelasyon was also highly criticized for a failed hospital scene.

Meanwhile, this writer reached out to at least two doctors to confirm the possibility of the scene but both of them agreed that it is highly impossible.

One jested that it has been a usual practice in Philippine TV series that whenever there are stabbing or punching scenes the blood always comes out of the nose.

The other offered a more technical explanation.

Dr. Clinton Balud said it is highly impossible that the blood will exit through the nose if the stabbing was within the upper gastrointestinal tract. The blood should come out of the mouth instead of the nose. If there is plenty of blood, blood might flow from the nose but that is a very remote possibility.

Aside from medical explanations, one possibility that can explain the Kara Mia scene is Daenerys’s death scene in Game of Thrones.

In the said scene, blood flowed from Daenerys’s nose after it came out of her mouth. The production team might have been trying to mimic the death scene for Kara Mia.

While GMA Network has been criticized for their medically inaccurate scenes, ABS-CBN has been praised for their great execution.

Netizens praised Kadenang Ginto for great research about blood transfusion.
