  • Barbie Forteza’s take on criticisms: “Nakakatuwa lang kasi good or bad opinion at least they know me.”
  • The Kapuso actress is one of the promising stars of her generation
  • Barbie is the featured artist of the GMA Network’s new digital feature #Artistakeover for the month of  July

Barbie Forteza is one of the promising artists of this generation. At 21 years old, she has already proven that she is more than just a pretty face for she can keep up with other stars she works with.

Be it a drama, rom-com or an action-packed show, the Kara Mia star will surely “wow” her audience with the way she delivers her character.

Whatever role is given to her, the Kapuso actress makes sure that she has a unique approach to be able to be in character. In an interview by GMANetwork.com, Barbie says, “Sa drama kasi less is more. Pero sa comedy more, more, more!

“‘Yung reaksyon mo, ‘yung movements mo, ‘yung actions mo, even the way you enter the scene dapat malaki talaga lahat. Lalo na pagdating sa impersonation, manggagaya ka talaga. But since you’re just impersonating, ‘di mo naman talaga gagayahin yung artistang yun kundi ‘yung personality niya i-exagge mo kasi nga may touch of comedy nga,” she added.

Aside from her drama roles, Barbie is known for impersonation of Kris Aquino as “Krissy” in the Sunday noontime variety show Sunday Pinasaya. Her way of impersonating Kris especially her laugh is hilarious and contagious, earning mixed reactions from televiewers. But, as for the actress, she knows that some find her impersonation too exaggerated.

She admitted, “Alam ko may ibang tao na nao-OA-an sa akin kapag ginagaya ko si Kris Aquino. Pero kasi, it’s comedy nga and it’s also impersonation. At saka, ganun naman talaga si Ms. Kris kaya wala naman ako masyadong binago.”

So how does Barbie deal with the hurtful criticisms she has received from other people throughout her career?

“Nakakatuwa lang kasi good or bad opinion at least they know me. I’m a household name,” Barbie said.

Barbara “Barbie” Ambas Forteza started her career as a child star. She’s known for her character as young Jodi in the remake of the hit Korean television series Stairway To Heaven in 2009. She had her first lead role in a teleserye in 2010 as Charity Santos in Pilyang Kerubin. From then on, the actress was given different projects that honed her acting skills.

Her last TV show was Kara Mia which concluded on June 28, 2019.

Aside from drama series, the actress starred in different films like Puntod (2009), The Road (2011), Sossy Problems (2012), Tuos (2016), This Time I’ll Be Sweeter (2017), and Almost A Love Story (2018).

For now, Barbie is the featured artist of GMA Network’s new digital feature #Artistakeover for the whole month of July.
