  • GMA Network will soon be airing new episodes of One Piece and Toriko and as well as make the Philippine Free TV premiere of the much-awaited Dragon Ball Super this year
  • This is in line with the network’s 70th-year celebration
  • GMA Network answered fans’ question on why they air animes in Tagalog dub

TOEI anime fans will be happy to know that GMA Network will release new animes this 2020 with most coming from the said animation studio.

This is also in line with the network’s 70th-year celebration.

All-new episodes of One Piece and Toriko plus the Philippine Free TV premiere of the much-awaited Dragon Ball Super will soon be on your TV screens.

Currently, Dragon Ball Super is still in the process of dubbing with 67 episodes as of press time. The production team is also including a closed-caption (CC) feature for the benefit of deaf viewers which can be enabled on any Digital TV (ISDB-T) devices.

Dragon Ball Super premieres on January 6, Weekdays at 8:25 am, Saturdays at 9:15 am, and Sundays at 7:50 pm. Airing dates for the new episodes of Toriko and One Piece have not yet been disclosed.

GMA Network will air the remaining episodes of Toriko where they left off while One Piece will be airing episodes 521 to 626.

TOEI Co. Ltd. is handling the airing license of the said series while Telesuccess is handling the distribution and dubbing production.

While watching animes in Tagalog dub is much helpful at times, many fans wondered why GMA does not air it in the English version.

As explained by GMA Network, it turns out that the decision to air animes in Tagalog or English is not their responsibility.

The Japanese license owners of the anime programs is the one that chooses the language for the anime dubbing.

The reason Japanese companies insist on this is for them to be assured of the protection of their worldwide intellectual property rights from infringement.

With the Tagalog dub, GMA Network will be able to attract more kids, especially those not familiar with the English language. Research also shows that for every one person who wants it in English, there are 8 anime fans who want it in Tagalog.
