From a noisy, attention-hungry social media personality, veteran broadcaster Jay Sonza suddenly became silent after Julia Barretto filed a case against him.
For days now, Sonza has been surprisingly silent on Facebook, a very unusual thing for him who usually has 3 to 4 posts per day. He shared some posts on his personal Facebook account yesterday but none of these are about Julia.
His twitter account was also silent for several days right after Julia went to the NBI to file a case against him.
On Friday, September 25, Julia, accompanied by her mother Marjorie, went to the NBI to file charges against Jay Sonza over his malicious post about Julia on Facebook.

“I am pursuing this case because the statements made by Mr. Sonza are untrue and irresponsible. The widespread reposting of the news based on his post caused distress to me and my family. I don’t want to take this matter lightly. Mr. Sonza, and all those who publish these reckless and baseless posts, must be held accountable for their actions so that they think twice before claiming things as fact,” said Julia
“Ang dami ko na kasing pinagdaaan, ang dami ko nang pinalampas lalo na sa social media, binastos na ang reputation ko, ang pangalan ko. You know, I think I just want to show people na hindi ko na pinapalampas ‘yung mga bagay na ganito.” she added.
The case stemmed from Sonza’s Facebook post saying Julia was pregnant with Gerald Anderson’s child. In his Facebook post, he claimed the baby was conceived during the quarantine period which Sonza described as ESQ or Exact Sex Quadrant
“Congratulations sa aking kapitbahay sa Congressional Village, Bahay Toro, Quezon City, napatunayan nina Visoy (visayan tisoy) Gerald Anderson at anak nina Dennis Padilla at Marjorie na si Julia Barreto na kapuwa hindi sila baog.
“After months of love lockdown and ESQ (exact sex quadrant) – may nabuo sa sinapupunan ni Julia,” Sonza wrote on his Facebook page.
Meanwhile, in Sonza’s social media silence, several netizens were able to unearth his previous tweet about defaming other person.
