Kapamilya star Angelica Panganiban made the rounds on social media after her statement about urging a politician to do his duties to the people trended as the actress seemed like she was pertaining to President Rodrigo Duterte.

On Sunday, November 1, Angelica Tweeted about her frustrations saying that a certain politician has no plans of giving his service to the people.

Netizens speculated that the 33-year-old actress was referring to Duterte as the president was nowhere to be seen in the recent 1st high-level briefing on the Super Typhoon Rolly, which is the world’s strongest tropical cyclone of 2020.

Meanwhile, Assistant Secretary Goddes Hope Libiran of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) replied to Angelica saying that they don’t get enough sleep in the heights of the typhoon. She also said that people should focus on helping others in times of calamities and not on bringing others down.

“Ma’am wala pa nga po kami halos tulog,” Libiran said.

“Alam n’yo po ba ang dapat gawin kung may nararanasang kalamidad ang bayan? BAYANIHAN po, hindi [HILAHAN] PABABA. Just saying. Hindi po ako galit. Puyat lang,” she added.

Another patolang ASEC. Truth hurts ba kaya nag react? Instead of complaining just do your job coz we pay for your salary. Gaga!

Previously, the hashtag #NasaanAngPangulo trended on Twitter after the news spread that Duterte was missing in action in the Sunday briefing on the Super Typhoon Rolly.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque was the one who moderated the 10 am briefing that was aired live from the headquarters of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) in Quezon City.

NDRRMC noted that the officials physically present at the meeting were Roque, Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III, Social Welfare Secretary Felicisimo Budiongan, NDRRMC Executive Director Ricardo Jalad, Interior Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya, and Philippine National Police chief General Camilo Cascolan.

Typhoon Rolly entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) on October 29 and the mentioned briefing was held 3 days after the typhoon entered PAR.

In defense of President Duterte’s absence, Roque mentioned that the prediction of the typhoon’s landfall was a day late and that the briefing was held on a Sunday.

“Well, dahil inaasahan po natin ‘yung landfall kahapon, at saka sa totoo lang po araw ng Linggo naman iyon,” Roque said.

When asked regarding Duterte’s plan to visit areas that are affected by the typhoon, he said: “Well, dahil inaasahan po natin ‘yung landfall kahapon, at saka sa totoo lang po araw ng Linggo naman iyon.”

In another briefing held on Monday, November 2, Senator Bong Go mentioned that Duterte is set to visit Legazpi City and other areas affected by the typhoon Rolly.

“Ang ating Pangulo ay mismong pupunta mamayang hapon doon sa mga lugar na tinamaan ng bagyo. ‘Yung mga hardest hit ay kanyang bibisitahin,” he said.

Go added saying that Duterte was in his hometown in Davao City on the day of the 1st briefing and that the president was monitoring the situation from there.

Angelica Panganiban was a former Duterte Die-hard Supporter (DDS) but she revealed that she regrets being one.

She made the revelation via Twitter when she Tweeted on April 1 admitting that she was sad over her decision in 2016 to support Duterte and she was sorry for it.

Yes. Nakakalungkot. Pero oo. Patawarin niyo ko.
