Anti-drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013 seeks to penalize persons driving under the influence of alcohol and prohibited drugs

Broadcast journalist Ted Failon looks into the Anti-drunk and Drugged Driving Act of 2013 that seeks to penalize persons driving under the influence of alcohol and prohibited drugs this Saturday (September 14) in “Failon Ngayon.”

In line with the law’s implementation, the Land Transportation Office plans to purchase breath analyzers, which will be used to verify the alcohol or drug consumption of a motorist. Many people, however, claim that the project will only waste taxpayers’ money.

Will the law help in reducing road accidents and undisciplined drivers? Or will it only allow or encourage more traffic officials to extort from motorists?

Ted also examines self-employed professionals’ alleged incorrect filing of income taxes. According to the Bureau of Internal Revenue, there are 1.7 million professionals registered in the Professional Regulatory Board, but only 400,000 are paying their taxes.

The bill seeking to postpone the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections in barangays this October and the spread of unbranded and imitated retail products in the market will also be discussed in the episode.

Don’t miss the full report in “Failon Ngayon” this Saturday (September 14), 4:45 PM, after SOCO on ABS-CBN with a replay on ANC every Sunday, 2PM.
