Viva’s Revirginized created a new bond of friendship between Mega Star Sharon Cuneta and its director, Darryl Yap, as they share words of appreciation for each other in the press conference of the movie, August 4.
“I made three new friends in this movie, three real new friends: Direk Darryl, Ms. Rosanna Rosces, and Marco,” the actress revealed.
From the bottom of her heart, Sharon said that Darryl was among the directors she respected the most. The Mega Star even described the 34-year-old director as a “breath of fresh air” in the film industry.
“From the bottom of my heart, isa sa pinaka-nirerespeto kong direktor sa panahon ngayon. Kasi mas bata s’ya sa’kin.
“He is a shot of parang new-blood sa industriya; he is a breath of fresh air who represents Gen Z, the millennials, [and] also because he loves his mom very much.
“Very thoughtful s’ya pagdating sa mga characters n’yang medyo may edad,” said Sharon.
The multi-awarded actress-singer had so much respect for the director that she will finish all of Darryl’s filmography.
“Tatapusin ko ang buong filmography ni Direk Darryl.”
It’s not because she’s now friends with Darryl, but for his genius in making films.
“Kasi hindi dahil kaibigan ko s’ya kundi dahil bilib ako sa kanya eh.”
Added Sharon, despite Darryl’s projects being controversial, people have to remember that he is a filmmaker who “writes his own pictures.”
“Kahit na medyo controversial lagi yung…I think people are just momentarily shocked at the beginning kapag nakikita yung mga trailers n’ya or mga titles ng mga pelikula n’ya.
“You have to remember na this is a filmmaker or you have to know like I’ve gotten to know him as an actor, a co-worker, and now a friend. A director who also writes his own pictures.”
The Mega Star was also impressed with Darryl’s creativeness paired with his “genius IQ” as he comes up with ways to touch people’s hearts.
“And I actually have to add, has a genius IQ which isn’t always useful when you’re not creative.
“Direk knows how to touch people’s hearts in different ways that maybe none of us have seen before.
“I respect his genius, I respect his courage, dahil matapang n’yang pinaglalaban ang mga proyekto n’ya.
“Dahil alam n’yang may sense. You will see how his brain works in the movies that he makes.
“Because in the end, everything hits you somewhere sa emosyon mo. Something hits you and it goes deep inside some part of your heart na it stays with you.”
Sharon ended her message by saying that she enjoys working with Darryl and is looking forward to working with him again and again.
“I really enjoy working with Direk. And sabi ko nga sa kanya, I’d love to work with him a million times more. Pangalawa, ang gaganda ng mga istoryang nakahanda na sa kanya para sa akin.”
Meanwhile, Darryl also shared his message with Sharon. According to the director, he was overwhelmed that he finally got to work with the Mega Star.
While sharing his message, Darryl could not help but become teary-eyed for showering him with compliments.
“Of course overwhelmed pa rin ako. Pero we talked about it na. Nasabi ko na kay Mega yan. Sabi ko baka maiyak ako kapag nakapag-usap kami ulit.
“Ang ano ko lang is… s’yempre I’m more comfortable with critics, with bashing. Pero with compliments, tapos manggagaling pa kay Ms. Sharon, medyo nahihiya ako.”
He then said that many of his thanks were already said after Sharon gave him a Louis Vuitton bag.
“Pero nasabi ko na sa kanya lahat nang pasasalamat ko lalo na nung binigyan n’ya ako ng LV bag. So sa tingin ko nasabi ko na lahat ‘yon,” he added.
The director also described Sharon as a “luminary” as he could not believe that the Mega Star was a very genuine type of person despite her accomplishments and fame.
“I will not describe her kung pano ko s’ya nakatrabaho, dine-describe ko kung pano s’yang luminary sa’kin.
“Kasi no’ng nakatrabaho ko s’ya, hindi ako makapaniwala na gano’n s’ya kabait. Basta, hindi ko talaga ineexpect.
“Kasi ako, hindi talaga ako komportable sa praises. Pero Sharon is… imbes na ako ang magpalakas ng loob n’ya dahil sa mga inuutos kong gawin n’ya, laging s’ya ang nagpapalakas ng loob ko.”
The director was very thankful that Sharon said yes to doing Revirginized, and it was “one of his ambitions” to finally work with her.
“I’m just very thankful more than the words that she’s saying, the actions. Sobrang napakabuti n’yang tao.
“She deserves everything. Sharon is more than a dream. And I’m just very thankful that she said yes to this one-of-a-kind project that I pitched to her.”
