Scottish-Filipino actor Alex Diaz and some netizens pointed out the real problem behind the latest panic vaccination before ECQ started; is the Duterte Government.

Previously, Pres. Rodrigo Duterte stated that unvaccinated individuals are not allowed to leave their homes once the lockdown starts.

The President also threatened the unvaccinated population that authorities would force them to return to their houses if they ignore his warning.

But on August 6, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, while he addressed the flocking crowd to vaccination centers–blamed the panic on ‘fake news peddlers.’

Diaz, among other twitter personalities and netizens have agreed that the problem is not COVID, but the Philippine Government.

Journalist Lian Buan reiterated that Duterte was the one who released such a statement that caused panic, which Roque and the COVID-19 task force denied.

It was President Duterte who said it first, only to be clarified by the presidential spokesperson, and decisively rejected by the IATF later on through the justice secretary.

There should be a gag order somewhere. https://t.co/47iRyBbz7D

When Department of the Interior Local Government Unit (DILG) Usec. Jonathan Malaya said that Sec. Eduardo Año wants the anti-cybercrime unit to track down the source of misinformation; a netizen pointed the culprit: Duterte.

Other netizens reminded Roque that the source of fake news was the President himself.

Dr. RJ Naguit could only accept the reality–that the Duterte Government could only blame others but never themselves for their mistakes.

Twitter personality concluded that Duterte’s legacy, because of his statements and his allies, would be the “super spreader of: fake news, virus, hatred, and polarization.”

Another twitter personality who goes by the handle @pauloMDtweets, urged Filipinos to immediately change politicians, especially in the upcoming elections.

If the same lawmakers remain in power, then “we are in deep sh*t.”

We need to change these politician STAT! If not we are in deep shit. https://t.co/iCwhLXjWBU

As the hard lockdown began on Friday, August 6, COVID-19 reports have skyrocketed to 10,600 infections, with 247 deaths tallied.

The caseload of the infected has now reached 1.6 million, and the deaths at 28,673.

Department of Health (DOH) Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire explained that this is because of the new Delta variant of the coronavirus.

“We are seeing that cases across the nation are kicking upward. We are now feeling the effects of the Delta variant. We are assuming that there already is community transmission,” DOH Usec Vergerie told the media.

This ECQ, according to the Government, has a duration of two weeks. The actual end, however, is still undetermined.
