On August 27, Viral Kapamilya singer Gigi De Lana proudly shared her thoughts on plastic surgery during the media conference for her debut album and concert announcement.
De Lana proudly shared her surgery while recalling the negative comments when she revealed it publicly.
“Kasi, I’m proud na alam niyo ‘yun. I love myself. Tapos tatanungin nila na, ‘You love yourself pero nagparetoke ka ganyan, ganyan.’ Katawan niyo ‘to? Kayo nagparetoke? Sino kayo? Alam niyo ba ‘yung nangyari?
“You love yourself; you enhance; you grow; you wanted to be the best version of yourself years ago.”
She also clarified that she had to weigh the pros and cons of revealing her plastic surgery before announcing it.
“Personal preference ko rin kasi na magparetoke at umamin sa public. Kasi alam naman eh, mahahalata mo naman kasi.
“Naisip ko na rin ‘yun, aaminin ko ba? Aaminin ko ba ‘to? Sasabihin ko ba? Kasi kung hindi ko sasabihin, ito ‘yung consequence, sasabihin ng fans, magsisinungaling ‘yung fans, puro kasinungalingan. I don’t like liars.
“So ito po ‘yung mangyayari, ang consequence, ang daming magda-doubt sayo. Hindi ka pagkakatiwalaan masyado.”
However, De Lana affirmed that she just wanted to be honest with herself.
“I just want to be honest, gusto ko maging honest sa tao na kahit hindi ko sila ma-please ‘yung sarili ko na please ko. Sa akin lang ‘yun.”
She then expressed her support to other celebrities who underwent surgery but chooses not to disclose it.
“Ayaw ko rin mag-comment sa kanila, gusto ko rin maging careful. ‘Yung mga fellow artist ko na ‘yan di ko rin alam kung ano iniisip nila kung ano ‘yung pinagdadaanan nila. I love them for that also, I don’t want to judge them.”

As for her career, De Lana, alongside her band Gigi Vibes, plans to release her debut single this September 24 under ABS-CBN Music. She also headlines her first YouTube Music Night concert in December.
Aside from the single and the concert, she will also perform at the Filipino music festival, 1MX Dubai, on December 3.
De Lana joined Tawag ng Tanghalan in its inaugural season. She rose to fame after her viral cover of Bakit Nga Ba Mahal Kita alongside her band, Gigi Vibes, which gained popularity because of several ‘key’ alterations during the performance.
Thanks to her viral performance, she became part of the Rise Artist Studios and appeared in Four Sisters Before The Wedding. To add to her recent success, she also signed under Star Magic during the Black Pen Event.
