On Instagram on Monday, March 7, Melai Cantiveros denied that she supported Vice President and presidential aspirant Leni Robredo for the sake of ABS-CBN’s franchise.
Cantiveros voiced out her support for Robredo in the 2022 elections on Instagram.
She wrote, “Ang boto ko para kay VP Leni Robredo ay boto ko para sa magandang kinabukasan ng mga kabataang Pinoy.”

A follower of her then said, “For the sake of Abs-cbn, not for the Philippines and it’s people, sa nkikita ko lang.”
The comedian-host clarified, “For the sake of u and ur family kaya ko boboto si Leni.”
Another netizen said, “si leni e boto nila para mabuksan ang abscbnEND.”
Cantiveros replied in Bisaya: “buhi paman gani abs misag wala gibuksan [buhay pa naman ang abs kahit hindi binuksan].”
A netizen wrote: “ay leni kau para sa abs cbn di para sa Pilipinas..”
Cantiveros responded: “mas para sayu hindi para sa abs para maencourage ka muboto sa tama.”
ABS-CBN stopped its free-to-air broadcast in May 2020 following the National Telecommunications Commission’s (NTC) cease-and-desist order and the subsequent denial of its franchise application by the 70-Cayetano-led congressmen on July 10, 2020.
