Actor Alex Diaz expressed his desire to help Mindanaoans combat disinformation through social media.
On Thursday, March 31, via twitter thread, he said that he will be taking political views to TikTok and facebook to provide correct information.
“Mindanao opened my eyes to a lot of things. Taking my politics to Tiktok and facebook to fight disinformation there. There are some barangays in the far reaches of Zamboanga Del Sur wherein some of the leaders don’t want their constituents to have access to the internet,” he started.

He discovered that residents in the region were “left in the dark” despite some former members of the terrorist group New People’s Army (NPA) wanting to reintegrate back into society.

Diaz pointed out that it is good leadership. Peace talks between the government and rebel leaders were important to promote peace and order in the country.
The actor then stressed that it is time to have Filipinos watch each other’s backs given that not everyone enjoys similar privileges like access to information.
So to say peace talks with rebel groups is bad leadership is false.

Based on a survey of Social Weather Stations (SWS) back in December 2021, Mindanao has 54%, was the leading region that has difficulty spotting fake news. It is followed by Luzon (52%), the Visayas (50%), and Metro Manila (47%).
Mindanao had only 11% in terms of distinguishing disinformation accurately.
