On November 17, actress Coleen Garcia discussed the possibility of doing sexy roles.
At the media conference for Kaluskos, which LionhearTV covered, Garcia said she was open to the opportunity of doing a ‘good role’ that includes sexy scenes.
“I wouldn’t say naman na never, kasi paano kapag may dumating na napakagandang role, ba opportunity di ba? So it really depends, and the rason why naman na iniiwasan ko siya at this point, it’s not because I have a family, it’s not because I got married, kasi a lot of people think na ‘yun ‘yung dahilan.”
However, she clarified that she wants to show some diversity in acting by choosing different roles.
“Pero, ayaw ko lang na magsawa– hindi lang ‘yung tao pati ako. Ayaw ko lang mag-sawa na pare-pareho na ‘yung ginagawa ko. Gusto ko iba-iba, so I feel like there’s no growth in sticking to those one theme.”
As for her role in Kaluskos, she described her character as a mother’s descending into madness.
During the discussion, Garcia shared what she learned about being a mother through her character.
“Of course, I am speaking from /a point of privilege kasi pareho kaming nagwo-work ni Billy, so we’re /able to manage. So, what I’m doing right now is a choice. But many people in the /world, especially in our country, don’t have that choice.
“So, you know kung kailangan talaga, siyempre survival has to come first, kasi anong papakainin ko sa kaniya, how will I send him to school kung wala kaming kinikitang pera. So push comes to shove, of course. But since I’m given the choice, we’re privileged enough, talagang pipiliin ko naman siya.”
She also acknowledged the privilege she has since she’s able to choose when to work.
“Iba-iba naman din ‘yun, kasi may mga kilala din ako na don’t have to work, pero because it’s a priority for them, certain dreams, and goals, di ba? They’ll chase after it kahit mayroon silang sapat na pera, kakayod pa rin sila, and they’ll work pa rin for their careers, kasi ‘yun ‘yung gusto nilang ma-achieve with their lives.”
