In an interview with Call Me PAPi director Alvin Yapan, which LionhearTV covered on November 20, he spilled the beans about the lead stars, from their naughtiest to how they conduct themselves and how they smell and all.
Yapan cited that none of his male lead cast needed a strong cologne, noting that all of them smells good.
“In fairness wala akong naamoy sa kanila na may pabango. Oo natural ang amoy.”
He then revealed who’s the naughtiest or prankster among the lead cast.
“Pinaka pilyo? Si ano siguro–si Royce, pinakapilyo si Royce. Ma-joke parati, kalog sa set.”
He also disclosed that Albie Casiño insisted on landing his role in the movie.
“Mas gusto niya ‘yung role. Pinabasa namin ‘yung buong script, gusto niya talaga ‘yung role na waiter. Kasi, magkakaroon ng–iba kasi ‘yung story arc ng character ni Albie.”
Yapan admitted that he found directing an ensemble cast a challenge.
“Yes napakahirap, kaya gusto walang arte sa set. Kapag sinabing ganito, makaka-deliver agad. Tapos kaya may dynamics na ensemble talaga ‘yung cast, kasi kung hindi papalpak talaga.”
He then detailed which character in the film he could relate to, especially with his character arc.
“Bakit kay Royce, kasi relate ako doon sa pinagdadaanan niya.”
As for the stand-out performance in the film, Yapan praised Casiño’s ability to make an adlib in one of their sequences.
“Ang mahusay si Albie, may isang eksena dyan na hindi ko rin napansin habang sinusulat ko ‘yung script, ang sabi dyan ni Albie, ‘Direk, parang wala po akong linya.’ Sabi ko, ‘Oo nga.’
“So sabi niya, paano po ako aarte sa eksenang ‘to. So diniscuss ko namin ‘yung character ang sabi ko, ‘ito ang pwede mong i-adlib, ito ‘yung mga sense’ at ang ganda. In fact, I’m sure hindi ninyo mahahalata.”
As for their film, Call Me PAPi also stars Enzo Pineda, Lharby Policarpio, and Aaron Concepcion. The supporting cast includes Katya Santos, Irma Adlawan, and Anya Aguilar.
FEAST Foundation produced Call Me PAPi and Viva Films distributed it. It will open in cinemas on December 7.
