On May 23, creatives Direk Ted Boborol, Patrick Valencia and host Miss Trans Global 2020 Mela Habijan detailed what they want to see if Sparks Camp becomes a hit and gets a second season.

At the media event for Sparks Camp, which LionhearTV covered, Boborol said he hoped for a higher budget if the reality dating show gets a second season.

“Ako from a producer’s persepective, budget. I came from PBB, mayroon kaming 44 cameras, so grabe ‘yung challenge. Kaya ako nahu-hurt eh, kung alam niyo lang challenge directing this series.”

He also voiced his vision for the show when it becomes a hit and gets a second season.

“That’s our vision for Season 2, kumbaga sa Season 1, gusto lang namin ‘yung Bible sa reality show, i-set muna ‘yung rules ng show, tapos kapag na-gets na ng mga manonood na, ‘Ah ito pala ‘yung Sparks Camp.’ And then boom we will add those twists. So hoping na may season 2.”

Habijan wished the campers would get a longer interaction time with the second installment of Sparks Camp.

“Ako, it’s just a weekend get away kasi, so sana mas mahabang oras ng interaction, for them to really get to know each other, and then dig deeper. Kasi doon pa mas maiignite, ‘yung spark. Kasi ‘yung spark na nangyari sa isang weekend ay iba. Jumpstart siya–pero dahil may nag-jump start, ang tanong mayroon bang nagpapatuloy ngayon sa labas. So ngayon ‘yun ‘yung dapat natin abangan, sa reunion show.”

She then noted how she wants Queer dating and Sparks Camp to become a culture.

“Nag-usap kami ni Direk FM Reyes last week tapos tinamaan ako sa mga sinabi niya. Sabi niya, ‘First is historic, pero ang mahalaga sa lahat, ‘yung magpapatuloy.’ Mayroon bang mangyayari na susunod, mayroon bang second, mayroon bang third, mayroon bang fourth, kasi kung may second, third, and fourth, hindi na lang siya historic, it’s a culture already. And may dating for Queer people be a culture.”

Valencia echoed Boborol and Habijan’s wishes, noting how much it would improve Sparks Camp.

“I actually agree kay Direk and kay Mela. Aside from the cameras, kasi siyempre when we were shooting, dahil we had limited cameras, mayroon at mayroon kaming hindi nakukuha na parang moments, na parang sayang.

“And of course ‘yung longer time, kasi dito kaya Spark lang din kaya short time, pero kung makita natin sila ng mas matagal, ‘yung feelings naman ng tao, nagde-develop as we get to know them. So I agree with both Direk and Mela, na mas interesting pa, na if we’re given an opportunity for next season.”

As for Sparks Camp, the Philippine’s First Queer Dating reality show directed by Boborol, began its streaming on May 24 via Black Sheep’s YouTube Channel.
