On November 29, actor-host Paolo Contis reacted to people who appreciated his hosting gig in Eat Bulaga.

At the media event for ‘Ikaw At Ako,’ which LionhearTV covered, Contis remarked that he appreciates all the feedback, whether good or bad, for his hosting stint in the Kapuso noontime show.

“Ako po’y nagpapasalamat sa mga tao galit man o masaya para sa akin. Ituloy-tuloy ko na lang po. Dahil dere-deretso naman po siya.

“I don’t, but I appreciate everything, no–I [appreciate] the work.”

He then talked about his role in the movie and the themes his character would tackle throughout the story.

“Ang role ko po dito, tulad ng sinabi ni Rhian, na kung paano po ‘yung marami ng kasalanan. Obviously, ako ‘yung gumagawa ng kasalanan.

“Kumbaga sa dami ng mga mali no, hanggang saan ang pagpapatawad, at kung kaya pa bang maibalik ang dating pagmamahal, at siyempre kapag okay na ulit, saktan mo ulit. Pero ‘yun po ‘yung kwento ng movie no.”

Contis addressed whether he let his personal life interfere with his acting career.

“Never ko pong iniisip ‘yun, lagi para sa akin laging hiwalay ang personal sa professional na trabaho. So regardless, if I’m going through something, I’m paid to work, at kung ano ‘yung hinihingi sa akin ni Direk ibinibigay po sa akin. So sa akin never, never kong ginawa ‘yun.”

He then discussed how his real-life experiences with relationships help him with his role.

“To be honest, I try my best not to, pero minsan may mga eksena kami ni Rhian an nag-uusap, siyempre meron at meron kang mga familiar words na sinabi na maalala mo at maalala mo. It actually helps you with the scene.”

He also maintained that while his personal experiences help, he avoids relying on them to avoid getting too caught up with his role.

“Pero, at the end of the day, never ko ‘yung pinapasok na personal kasi ‘yung personal kapag pinasok mo ‘yan sa trabaho, doon nababaliw ‘yung ibang mga artista eh, doon sila nahihirapan na makawala. So kung ano ‘yung role, hangga’t maaari, doon ‘yun. Pero it helps of course.”

As for ‘Ikaw At Ako,’ the film stars Paolo Contis and Rhian Ramos with Ronaldo Valdez and Boots-Anson Roa.

The cast also features Madeleine Nicolas, Phoebe Walker, Andrew Gan, Marnie Lapus, Francis Mata, Gelo Galang, Cloud Ugayan, James Ignacio, and Fatima Mislang.

Under the direction of Rechie Del Carmen and screenplay by Lawrence Nicodemus, ‘Ikaw At Ako’ opens in cinemas starting December 6.
