ABS-CBN’s drama anthology “Maalalaala Mo Kaya,” primetime newscast “TV Patrol,” and AM radio station DZMM were the only Philippine entries named as finalists in the prestigious Asia Pacific Broadcasting Union (ABU) Prizes 2012 including Jury Prize categories for both radio and television.

Out of 166 television and 76 radio entries from 18 countries and 25 organizations, ABS-CBN bagged finalist spots in five different categories and is the sole representative of the country in the prestigious award giving body that aims to promote excellence in broadcasting.

“Maalaala Mo Kaya” episode titled ‘T-Shirt’ is competing with entries from Bhutan, Vietnam, Indonesia, Mongolia, and Sri Lanka for the Television Special Jury Prize category while DZMM’s Silveradyo Station ID is pitted against entries from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Bhutan for the Radio Special Jury Prize category.

DZMM scored another finalist spot in the Radio Jingles/Promos/Station ID’s category also for its Silveradyo Station ID and another one in the Radio News Reporting category for the coverage of “Radyo Patrol Balita Alas-Dose” on typhoon Pedring.

Meanwhile, “TV Patrol’s” coverage of typhoon Sendong was also named finalist in the Television News Reporting category.

Winners will be revealed during the awarding ceremony to be held on October 16 during the union’s general assembly in Seoul, South Korea.
