Motorcycle vlogger Alyannah “Yanna” Aguinaldo, more popularly known as Yanna Motovlog, failed to personally appear at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) hearing on Tuesday, May 6, regarding her involvement in a viral road rage incident in Zambales.
Represented by her legal counsel Atty. Ace Jurado, Aguinaldo cited personal security concerns due to alleged threats and harassment she received online since the altercation spread on social media.
Jurado read a written apology on her behalf addressed to pickup driver Jimmy Pascua, who was also present at the hearing.
“Ako po ay humihingi ng sinserong pagpapaumanhin… Lubos ko pong gagalangin at mapagkumbabang tatanggapin ang ano mang kaparusahan na maaring ipataw sa akin,” the letter read.
Aguinaldo also explained that the motorcycle she was riding during the incident was borrowed from a friend and not registered under her name.
Despite the apology, Pascua dismissed her statement as insincere and confirmed he intends to pursue criminal charges.
“Hindi naman po sincere ‘yung sorry nila. Itutuloy ko na lang ‘yung kaso,” Pascua said, adding that the incident had caused distress to him and his family.
“Gabi-gabi na lang umuuwi para lang makaiwas sa mga tao. Nagtatrabaho lang po ako, hindi po ako mayaman,” he added.
In the viral video, Aguinaldo can be seen making an obscene gesture toward Pascua and allegedly hurling insults even after Pascua tried to de-escalate the situation.
LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division chief Renante Militante said that administrative proceedings will move forward regardless of the apology.
“Kahit meron nang ganyan (apology letter), tuloy pa rin po ‘yung administratibong kaso na isasampa namin,” Militante said.
The LTO has ordered Aguinaldo to surrender her driver’s license and present the motorcycle used in the video during the next hearing scheduled for Thursday, May 8. She must also provide a written explanation as to why her license should not be suspended or revoked under Republic Act 4136 for being an “improper person” to drive.
