Stepping up anew to help people in need, a Marikina City-based restaurant is offering free snacks this week for public utility vehicle (PUV) drivers and delivery riders as a means of easing their financial burden amid the oil crisis.

Trining’s Kitchen Stories Marikina announced that it will be distributing free merienda on April 6, 7, 8, and 10 to drivers of public utility buses, jeepneys, and tricycles, as well as delivery riders from services such as Grab, Joyride, Lalamove, and J&T, among others.

Distribution begins at 4 p.m. and will continue until supplies last at Lot 12, Block 3, Gil Fernando Avenue, Barangay Sto. Niño, Marikina, near the Good Friend Bridge and the Marikina Engineering compound, a known venue for Car-Free Sunday Zumba sessions.

On its first day, April 6, the restaurant served 250 free meals.

The initiative aims to extend a small form of assistance to drivers and riders who continue to face financial strain following a huge spike in oil prices due to the Middle East conflict.

Known for its community efforts, Trining’s Kitchen Stories was among the first to organize a soup kitchen in Marikina City during the pandemic. It also recently conducted a Bayanihan soup kitchen for residents affected by Typhoon Crising.
