After a period of laying low, Kit Thompson is making his return to primetime television through the inspirational series ‘My Bespren Emman’, which premiered on April 27 on TV5.
The actor takes on the role of Dwayne, a corrupt policeman, marking his comeback as a regular cast member in a primetime show following his last major series stint in ‘La Vida Lena’ (2020–2021).
Thompson’s return comes after stepping back from the spotlight following a controversy in 2022 involving actress Ana Jalandoni. During that time, he was replaced by JC de Vera in the local adaptation of ‘Flower of Evil’.
Now, the actor expressed gratitude for being given another opportunity.
“Especially it’s a story about pagbabago, and a story about God… guiding you through your dark times. So, very thankful ako to be a part of this project, sa TV5, Spring Films, everyone na nagtiwala sa akin… ‘Yun na nga, giving second chances na yung tao, puwedeng magbago… With the guidance of God, you know, puwede Niyang mabago talaga yung buhay mo.”
Thompson shared that his renewed outlook is rooted in his spiritual journey, which he said became more consistent only last year.
“Sa akin talaga nag-start for me na tuluy-tuloy, last year. Dati kasi, para akong… I would dip my feet in it pero I would pull out. So, last year talaga, doon ako nag-go all in.”
He acknowledged the influence of people who guided him, including Piolo Pascual of Spring Films.
“You know, he’s a Christian, and my friends, my family. They guided me pero ultimately it was my decision.”
Despite challenges, Thompson said he is now in a better place.
“Pero I’m good. Never been better!”
Asked about his current relationship with Jalandoni, Thompson clarified: “Well, we’re good. Hindi kami… Ahhh basta OK kami, yeah, we’re OK.”
He also revealed he is currently seeing someone outside showbiz.
“Malaki ang naitulong niya sa akin actually. She was there through my dark times… I’m very thankful for that person.”
‘My Bespren Emman’, top-billed by JM de Guzman as Mateo de Jesus, follows a former criminal seeking redemption—mirroring Thompson’s own narrative of change and renewal.
The cast also includes Shaina Magdayao, Sid Lucero, Ai-Ai delas Alas, Michael de Mesa, Mitch Valdes, and Ely Buendia.
