Coca-Cola, the world’s largest, most valuable and recognizable brand of beverage, kicked-off the fourth season of its Coca-Cola Football Festival at the Alabang Country Club last May 3, 2014.

Mr. Guillermo Aponte President and General Manager of Coca-Cola Philippines was there and welcomed the media to a a short briefing. The Coca-Cola Football Festival is an ongoing commitment of the the brand to promote active, healthy and fun activity specially among the youth of today.

Coca-Cola believes that physical exercise is essential to healthy living. “Understanding what energy balance is–that is calories in, calories out—means knowing that the calories we take in, whether from a slice of cake, or a bottle of Coca-Cola, we should also be able to expend…” Aponte said, and that was the basis of the festival.

This year’s Coca-Cola Football Festival is participated by approximately 230 teams, estimated to have almost 3,500 players from different schools nationwide. The league played on the fields of Alabang Country Club with 22 football fields which teams can compete simultaneously, following the 7A Side Football Format meaning each team is limited to to 7 players ages 11-17. They were aiming to hold the championships in 11 different age categories. The teams that compete at the festival simultaneously play on 22 football fields, following a 7A Side Football Format. Each team is limited to 7 players and only one team represents per club or school in the 11 different age categories.

Winners get to take home championship trophies and medals, and last year it was the Green Barons, Miriam College, Xavier Football Club, Roxas Wildcats Football Club, Masbate Football Club, Makati Football Club, De La Salle University, FC Sikat, De La Salle Zobel, Makati FC Elite, and Makati Football School who won in their respective categories.

Besides the Football Festival, Coca-Cola is also sponsoring the ongoing Coca-Cola PBA Youngstars, and upcoming Red Cross Million Volunteer Run this November. Coca-Cola also supports and committed towards the promotion of well-being hinged on a global sustainability framework, woman’s economic empowerment and environmental protection. Globally, the Coca-Cola Company endorses over 280 healthy living programs in 115 countries. Coca-Cola is also the official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup since 1978. Throught the Comapany’s “World’s Cup Campaign”, it invites the world to celebrate football as a force for social good.

The Coca-Cola Football Festival started  4 years ago with the goal to bring soccer all over to more regions in the country. Coca-Cola’s commitment is to continuously support healthy active living, the sport is also a great exercise for the kids and teaches them to be disciplined.
