- Former Pinoy Big Brother Wendy Valdez recently sought prayers for her firstborn’s operation.
- Her son had a cyst which needed operation ASAP even though he’s only been 2 days old.
- Wendy suffered from miscarriage last year and she had always wanted to have a child.
Former Pinoy Big Brother Season 2 housemate Wendy Valdez asked for prayers last week as her newborn baby boy was set to undergo an operation for his spine.
Wendy has opened up that during her pregnancy with Seth, it was discovered that he has a cyst at the bottom of his spine. Wendy wrote, “When God promised to give us children, I thought we will have twins at once, instead we only had Seth. We were so excited, but in just four months, our excitement turned into pain when instead of knowing his gender, we saw that our child has cyst at the bottom of his spine.”

Baby Seth, her first born, has spina bifida. It’s a neuro defect that may be prevented by taking folic acid before one gets pregnant. “I’m glad I did take folic acid even before we got married. If not, I would have blamed myself for what happened to Seth. My knowledge of who God is, made me understand that He is in complete control no matter what,” said Wendy on a lengthy post about baby Seth.
“What we heard were consistent. “Your child needs operation. Since it’s sacral spina bifida, it may affect his bladder, his bowel movement, and worst he may never walk. His brain may be pulled down by the cyst and may make him autistic or have his brain affected, or have hydrocephalus. If he can’t be operated, he may have infection that can cause him cerebral palsy…I had a day, when I was just so much anguish. God promised Seth to us, but it seemed like He was being taken away so soon. Or our dream of us enjoying him became tortures of worry and fear. Questions were coming into my head.”

But Wendy did not lose faith. She may have had questions on whether she will be able to take care of Seth, but she did not lose heart. She’s grateful to a website that has helped her to accept the condition of her child. “All those were hard for me to swallow, so I chewed on God’s promises instead. He would send me hope through a site of moms who have children like mine. They showed me photos of their children. They were moms of hope. And one by one, the treasures engraved in my heart were becoming useful as I recall them in my sorrow.”
The actress happily announced on her Instagram account, “Wala nang bukol si Sethy! Thank you Jesus. We didn’t realize how big his cyst was until we saw the photos shown to us by his neuro surgeon. It was difficult for me to pray out loud for him this morning because I can’t help but cry. 2 day old and he goes through this. Thank God for our spiritual family who prayed with us, and for everyone of you who prayed with us. We are grateful. Salamat po. We know that the Lord hears our prayers. Salamat pos a pagmamahal at pagdarasal kay Sethy. Doctors said, the operation went well and they will continue to monitor his recovery. Hindi na mabigat ang likod ni Sethy.

On her most recent post, Wendy is happy that she can finally carry her son. She wrote: “Thank you Lord I am finally able to hold my son…Soon makakauwi din tayo anak. #EmmanuelSethGarcia.”
Prior to Wendy’s delivery to Seth, she has encountered a miscarriage last year and they have not ceased praying for a child since then.
