The 28-year old beauty queen apologized for offending some netizens.
Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach ‘congratulatory’ tweet to the newly-crowned queens Miss Earth 2017 Karen Ibasco and Reina Hispanoamericana 2017 Winwyn Marquez made noise in social media. Some netizens sent hate to Pia after blocking netizens who commented about ‘extra-judicial killings.’
Netizens accused her to be insensitive about the extra-judicial killings here in the Philippines and gives more accent to beauty pageants.
“Yes just like recently we were crowned as one of the countries who failed to curb corruption and uphold the rule of law. Until the day na may comment ka na about EJK, dun tayo magyabang sa crown mo. Thanks!”
As reaction, Pia allegedly blocked netizens who commented about EJK. However, some of them fires back to Pia for not standing against the killings.
“This is how Pia responds to criticisms. I used to love and admire her heart for LGBT rights, but her continued silence on equally pertinent issues like EJK is a deal breaker. I can’t have a Queen who only supports advocacies that serve her personal interests. Bye Felicia!”
“Pls dont get me wrong. I loved @PiaWurtzbach & I was one of those who saw how she’s helping people even before she was Miss U. She inspired me a lot & thats also why I got disappointed when she stopped speaking out on issues that ultimately matter to ordinary people like myself.”
On the other hand, Pia sent her apologies to her followers on her latest tweet.
“I’m sorry po. I don’t mean to be misunderstood po and I don’t mean to offend anyone. I am very much pro life. Salamat po mga kababayan,” she wrote.
