- Michelle Vito is not complaining about the pace of her career.
- She juggles school and showbiz.
- In a year’s time, Michelle will be graduating with a degree in Human Resource Management from De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde.
Relative newcomer Michelle Vito recently made a movie with Hashtags member Jon Lucas. The film is called Dito Lang Ako and is being promoted as a period romance.
Friendship with Jon
Michelle and Jon met five years ago as batchmates in Star Magic Circle. The two clicked instantly.
“Nag-start kaming maging friends nu’ng sabay kaming i-launch sa Star Magic Circle 2013. Siguro nagkasundo kami ni Jon kasi pareho po yung personality namin na makulit. Parang hindi kami nagso-showbizang dalawa.”
Even their respective families became close.
“Naging close po yung family namin kasi ako, lagi kong kasama si mommy na nagwe-wait sa workshop ko noon and then yung mommy din po ni Jon at si daddy niya madalas pong magkakasama.”
When Jon’s mom died, Michelle grieved even harder than her friend did.
“Nung namatay nga po si Tita, nung dumalaw ako sa wake, ako pa yung mas iyak ng iyak kesa kay Jon.”
Never more than friends
Michelle says that she has a lot of male friends aside from Jon but nothing romantic ever developed.
“Siguro may mga kaibigan ka talaga na kahit lalaki o babae at magkaiba kayo ng gender, may hanggang friends lang talaga. Like ako, madami akong malalapit na lalaking kaibigan at masasabi ko na hanggang don lang talaga kami.”
Slow-paced career?
Among Michelle’s Star Magic Circle batchmates are Liza Soberano and Julia Barretto. Liza and Julia are currently on top of the heap, assigned choice projects. Compared to the two, Michelle’s career opportunities have been few and far between.
“Ako, okey lang po ako, eh. Hindi naman po ako nababagalan. Baka iniisip nila na napag-iiwanan ako kasi ka-batch ko sina Liza, Julia. Pero kasi naniniwala ako sa tamang timing talaga. Time nila ngayon, time nina Julia ngayon, nina Liza, so naniniwala ako na darating din yung time para sa akin. Kung ano yung dapat para sa akin.”
Studies first
One more thing that keeps Michelle from going full speed on her acting career is the fact that she is in college and graduating soon. She cannot imagine herself giving up her studies.
“At saka nag-aaral din po kasi ako. Hindi lang ako yung naka-focus sa showbiz lang. Gusto ko na may ginagawa rin akong iba. Siguro kahit may teleserye akong ginagawa, hindi ako mag-i-stop sa pag-aaral. Regular student po ako sa Benilde taking up Human Resource Management. Third year na po ako at patapos na ako next year.”
Michelle says that she can give more time to show business after she graduates from college. For now, she is thankful for every opportunity that comes her way.
“Siguro po pag naka-graduate na ako, mas makakapag-focus na talaga ako sa showbiz. Since hindi pa naman ako ganun ka-busy, kaya ko pang mag-aral talaga, bakit hindi? Hindi ko naman po masasabi na walang-wala talaga akong project. Meron naman po.”
