Social media personality, Kapuso actress, and ‘Pinoy Big Brother: Celebrity Collab Edition’ Season 1 big winner Mika Salamanca addressed criticism from netizens after posting a series of statements on X (formerly Twitter) about the public’s focus on celebrities instead of political issues.

In one of her posts, Salamanca called out people for allegedly using the current political climate as an excuse to attack artists they dislike.
“Stop using this situation to hate artists that you don’t like,” Mika wrote.
She added that people should direct their frustrations toward more important national issues and maintain the same standards for politicians as they do for celebrities and content creators.
“Sana ilagay natin sa tama yung galit naten at sana kung gaano kataas standards nyo sa mga content creators at artista ganyan din kataas standards nyo sa mga iuupo nyo sa 2028,” she said.
In another post, Salamanca acknowledged that not everyone would agree with her opinions, but questioned why some people still resort to personal attacks even during discussions about government-related frustrations.
“You can always disagree with what I’m saying or even with who I am as a person, but really? Even in conversations about people’s frustrations with the government, some of you still choose to focus on attacking individuals instead of the actual issue,” she stated.
She also shared a brief message emphasizing the importance of political awareness.
“Avoiding politics won’t avoid you, wake up,” Mika added.
Her posts quickly drew mixed reactions online, with several netizens bringing up her alleged closeness to Kitty Duterte, daughter of former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte.
Some netizens defended Salamanca, while others questioned her stance and messaging.
“Ang namulat, hindi na muli pipikit. Tuloy ang laban. Thank you for using your platform miks.”
Others criticized her posts for being too vague.
“in general kasi yung post mo. lahat nman concern sa pilipinas. diretsohin mo kasi where you stand. sabihin mo na wag na mag tago si Bato harapin nya ang ICC. direct to the point kung magpopost ka man lang,” one netizen commented.
Another wrote: “Teh di ka namin inaattack. Pero wala talagang sense yung una mong tweet. Nu yon teh? Paki explain.”
One commenter also pointed out what they described as a contradiction between her statements and the people she associates with.
“What you’re saying is kinda contradicting to the people you surround yourself with that’s why people call out.”
Meanwhile, director Andoy Ranay also reacted to the issue, commenting: “Kaya pa ba, hija?”
As of writing, Salamanca has yet to release another statement regarding the controversy.
