- ABS-CBN Regional celebrates 30th year with ‘Halad sa Kapamilya’
- To bring regional Philippine culture to the world
ABS-CBN Regional looks to the future as it celebrates its 30th anniversary this year by continuing its tradition of public service highlighted by this year’s edition of “Halad sa Kapamilya,” which will simultaneously happen on November in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao beginning on November 24.
“Halad sa Kapamilya” will be held at the Narciso Ramos Sports and Civic Center, Lingayen Pangasinan; CitiMall, Mandalagan Bacolod; Cebu Technological University, Cebu City; and at the Palma Gil Elementary School, Davao City. There will be live updates of “Halad sa Kapamilya” from the MOR station in the area.
ABS-CBN Regional’s new head Tata Sy said the event will “be a meeting ground for all those needing help and those who want to help or give back.” It will continue to offer different services – medical, dental, optical, surgical, veterinary, legal, and livelihood seminars, among others – for Filipinos by their fellowmen.
The “Halad sa Kapamilya” started in Cebu in 2005 and was attended by 10,000 people. It became Grand Halad sa Kapamilya as it grew over the years, evidencing our people’s generosity and willingness to serve our fellow Kapamilyas. Last year’s GHK registered over 23,000 beneficiaries and 1,000 volunteers. “What better way to celebrate 30 years than to provide a simultaneous platform where everyone can give, share and just love!,” said Tata.
ABS-CBN Regional, which is rooted in public service, will continue to be available to those who need it. It has consistently provided service in the areas where they can be found, forging a better relationship with local viewers.
According to Sy, the local stations have become the go-to hub for citizens in their areas. “Our Kapamilyas come to us for help, information, entertainment, talent development, public service, livelihood opportunities, legal assistance and all possible linkages to government and non-government entities,” she said.
It will also continue the established practice of being first responders in the face of calamities, such as the Ormoc flashfloods, super typhoon Yolanda, the Bohol earthquake, and the Naga landslides.
However, the chapter of ABS-CBN Regional also sees it facing the challenge of staying relevant in an ever-changing world. It continues to look for ways to evolve to be of better service to Filipinos not just in the country but also abroad. Sy shared that they will be “cooking up regional digital content to make global our rich regional culture.”
ABS-CBN Regional is the fulfillment of the dream of Kapitan Geny Lopez to build “Bridges on the Air,” for the different regions of the Philippines. Powered by this vision, it has grown to 35 TV stations now bundled as 16 major hubs, from three original stations in 1988. It has also added 3 AM radio stations and 16 FM radio stations.
