Action-themed television series are the trend nowadays. It can’t be denied that most Filipinos love to watch action series or films.
Back in 2013, Coco Martin starred in ‘Juan Dela Cruz’ which became one of the most successful action fantasy-drama shows of all time on ABS-CBN. Following the series’ success, Coco once again top-billed an action drama series ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano,’ a TV adaptation of Fernando Poe Jr.’s 1997 movie of the same title.
The series, which premiered on September 28, 2015, was awarded several extensions for gaining high ratings and popularity from viewers. It is currently one of the longest-running series on ABS-CBN.
Another top-rating action drama series on the same network is ‘The General’s Daughter’ which stars Angel Locsin along with JC de Vera and Paulo Avelino. The series continues to reign in its timeslot and even surpassed the ratings ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.’
On the other hand, GMA Network also got in on the trend as they have released some action drama series.
Released in 2016, the Dingdong Dantes-starrer ‘Alyas Robin Hood’ received positive reviews and was extended to season 2.
Dantes also starred the ‘Cain at Abel,’ the 2018 series, along with Dennis Trillo and Sanya Lopez.
Both series were set to compete with rival ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano’ but failed to beat the top-rating series.
GMA Network will soon be premiering its upcoming action drama series with the working title ‘Rosang Agimat.’ This will be directed by veteran director Toto Natividad.

20-year-old Kapuso star Gabbi Garcia will top bill the said series along with Thea Tolentino, Jerick Gonzalez, Kristoffer Martin, Gil Cuerva, Eddie Garcia, Tonton Gutierrez, Victor Neri, Luz Valdez, and Betong Sumaya.
Gabbi and Thea are undergoing different kinds of training for their upcoming action series. The two actresses are now taking up gun shooting and high-intensity interval training with six-time speed shooting World Champion, Jethro Dionisio.
More details about ‘Rosang Agimat,’ including its airing date, have yet to be announced. However, it is most likely going up against ABS-CBN’s ‘FPJ’s Ang Probinsyano.’
