Comedian Super Tekla is being compared to the Unkabogable Star Vice Ganda.
The former gained more popularity when he started hosting for television and web talk shows The Boobay and Tekla Show (TBATS ) on GMA Network along with co-host Boobay. The show premiered on January 27 of this year and outscored Gandang Gabi Vice several times in NUTAM TV ratings.
This success might have made some people compare him to Vice Ganda. However, Super Tekla downplayed the comparison saying he still lacks the experience to be compared to the senior comedian.
“Malayo pa po yon, malayong dream. Vice is Vice na po yon. Di na natin maano yan eh nakapako na yan.
Wala akong hinahangad kung ano kuntento lang ako. Kasi ang hirap nun but anyway ginagawa ko lang ng maayos ang trabaho ko sa pagpapasaya ng mga tao,” he said in an interview.
Super Tekla will soon star in his first movie, titled Kiko En Lala along with stars Derrick Monasterio, Kim Domingo, Kiray Celis, Divine Tetay, Jo Berry, and Ai-Ai delas Alas in a special role. The upcoming film was directed by Adolfo Alix Jr.
The said movie, which was supposed to hit in the Philippine cinemas on May 22, was delayed and a playdate has yet to be announced. Super Tekla also has no idea about his movie’s release date.
“Wala pa kong idea pero as of now, pinupulido yung movie talaga, pinaganda yung mga eksena, yung effects para paglabas niya sobrang maayos na siya,” he shared.
He also commented that the delay was a good thing for the movie’s additional improvements.
He was then asked about his experience for filming his first ever movie.
“Nangangatog ako sa kaba kasi wala pa man yung playdate pero iniimagine kona yung magiging outcome.”
He also expressed his overwhelming feelings over finally being a lead star in a movie.
“Nakakaiyak yun syempre. Di ko akalain sa buong buhay ko na bibibgyan ako ng ganong pagkakataon. Makikita ka sa bigscreen parang dream come true,” he added.
Tekla admitted that he still lacks experience in acting.
“Oo naman. Kailangan lang talaga ng guide. Kase baguhan lang naman po ako sa industriyang ito. Ang dami ko pang bigas na kakainin.
“Pero desidido naman po akong matuto at makinig para may matutunan ganun,” he shared.
Tekla was recently rumored to be in conflict with the movie’s director Adolf for not correcting his acting performance. However, the comedian denied these allegations saying that they are not true.
