  • Erich presumably backed out from the series due to her villain role
  • Yam Concepcion gave her reaction about bagging the new role

Dreamscape recently announced that Erich Gonzales will no longer be part of their upcoming teleserye Love Thy Woman. She was replaced by Halik star Yam Concepcion.

Kim Chiu, one of the main stars of the series, reacted to the news. She said she was happy to hear that Yam was chosen to take on the role left by Erich.

“Si Yam excited din ako to work with her kasi napanuod ko rin siya sa Halik and sobrang intense niya dun so mas ma-cha-challenge ako in terms of acting namin,” she said.

But Kim admitted that she and rest of the cast were surprised when Erich backed out from the role without saying a word to them.

“Una nalungkot and hindi rin siya nakapagpaalam sa amin. Staff na lang nagsabi na wala na siya. So hindi ko rin inano kasi siyempre respeto na rin kung yun ang gusto niyang mangyari or desisyon. Siyempre lahat kami hindi namin alam what really happened, kung ano yung reason niya. Hindi pa kami nagkausap. As in wala pa talaga,” she shared at the Nature’s Way Aloe Vera System event last August 16, Friday.

Kim said that she cannot confirm the rumors that Erich backed out from the role reportedly because of the kontrabida nature of her character which was not discussed with her during the story pitch.

There were also circulating rumors that Erich’s past rumored relationship with Xian Lim, the lead actor of the series, caused her to abandon the role but it seems that it had nothing to do with her decision.

Moreover, Kim expressed her excitement for her new soap since it serves as her reunion project with reel and real-life leading man Xian.

“Nakaka-excite siya and I can’t wait na ipalabas. Nung first time nga namin na magsama ulit nag-eksena ni Xian, ang tagal na kasi hindi kami nag-eksena. So parang nakakapanibago. And nakaka-excite yung kuwento, yung millieu, kasi it’s Chinese. And then yung story din. Masaya. Exciting. Sa ngayon ang kaya ko lang i-share is, it’s something different. Yung magugulat ka talaga sa mga mangyayari and excited ako na mapanuod na siya ng mga tao,” she said.

During the recently concluded VivaCon2019, LionhearTV asked Yam some details about her upcoming series Love Thy Woman. According to Yam, her role will be “very interesting” and she’ll be working for the very first time with some veteran actors like Eula Valdez and Christopher de Leon, and with the tandem of Kim and Xian known as KimXi.

“Actually kinakabahan na naman ako dahil bago na naman. It’s another adjustment for me but I’m excited and I’m ready to take on the challenge,” she said.

When asked if she will act as a villain in this series, she clarified, “Hindi naman sa kontrabida, ayokong magbigay ng labels pero maganda ‘yung role. Mayaman naman ako rito. Iba naman.”

Yam also said that she doesn’t mind being the second choice after Erich backed out from the Love Thy Woman soap. Yam said that she is now excited to work with Kim and Xian.

The airing date of Love Thy Woman has not yet been revealed but it will reportedly be in late 2019 or early 2020. The cast of the series includes Ruffa Gutierrez, Eula Valdez, Christopher de Leon, Sunshine Cruz, ZsaZsa Padilla, Jennifer Sevilla, Jana Victoria, Tim Yap, David Chua, and Chienna Filomeno.
