- The tension between Chie Filomeno and Dawn Chang seems to have been revived
- This followed after Dawn made disparaging remarks against GirlTrends
- Chie still has no plans of reconciling with Dawn
GirlTrends member Chie Filomeno is not yet thinking about reconciling with former member Dawn Chang.
Dawn was one of the original members of GirlTrends when it debuted on It’s Showtime in 2016. It has seen members come and go, while its current slate includes Chie, Joana Hipolito, Krissha Viaje, Mica Javier, Mikee Agustin, Jessica Marasigan, and Sammie Rimando.
In August, Dawn confirmed she had already departed the group amid the surrounding criticisms. GirlTrends was mocked online after a video of their botched performance of “How Do You Sleep” went viral.
The two performers figured in a dispute after Dawn took an apparent jab at her former group when she judged the Sampu-Sample segment of the noontime show.
Dawn’s comment,”Hindi puwedeng puro aura,” was supposedly aimed at the girl group. Chie only took the comment in stride.
“I think baka naman talaga para sa mga contestants ‘yun,” Chie said in an interview during the Star Magic Halloween party.
“Pero kung sa amin, I just wanna say na kasi naging part rin siya ng group namin. Parang the way she talks, parang hindi siya naging parte ng isang grupo.
“Hindi kami nag-uusap at all after niya umalis ng GirlTrends. Wala siyang kinausap na aalis siya, or wala siyang pasabi na aalis siya. Nagulat na lang kami na nasa vlog na niya,” she shared.
When asked about her plans of resolving the problem, Chie replied, “I wanna be honest. No, just no! Wala na e kasi grabe na ang lamat na nilagay. So I’d rather not to be plastic about it.”
She also expressed her disappointment after Dawn made the supposed demeaning comment. “Siguro kasi grupo nga e. Pero bakit parang nilaglag mo kami,” Chie said.
Despite receiving crticisms online, Chie believed that they should look on the positive side and learn from the experience.
“Positive na lang. Just be positive about it and we take it as (constructive) criticism.”
“It’s a lesson. Things happen for a reason and it’s just that na mas mag-aaral (pa) kami ng mabuti, dahil hindi naman everyday is a good day and we’re not perfect. Every day is a learning process,” Chie further explained.
She added that GirlTrends also learned to deal with hateful comments thrown at them.
“Parang immune na rin e, pero happy lang na ang GirlTrends ay nasa safe place ngayon,” she answered.
Last April, Chie became involved in a confrontation with Dawn and former GirlTrends member Erin Ocampo for allegedly backstabbing her because of her nose job.
