November 2019 – PHILIPPINES – McDonald’s in 90 countries around the world are bringing happiness to Happy Meal fans as they introduce the limited-edition Surprise Happy Meal in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the first-ever Happy Meal.

By bringing back the most popular Happy Meal toys from the last four decades, it invites people of all ages to join in the fun and discover what old or new favorite awaits them. Filipino fans can celebrate with the rest of the world beginning November 21, until supplies last!

“Since the Happy Meal was introduced on the menu, it quickly became synonymous with our brand,” said Steve Easterbrook, McDonald’s CEO. “Today, this iconic red box creates delicious, lasting memories for billions of families annually across the world.”

First introduced in the U.S. in 1979, its global footprint has expanded to more than 38,000 restaurants in more than 100 countries around the globe – with the iconic toy still a beloved staple, serving as a symbol of surprise, playfulness and fun. It made its debut in the Philippines in 1997 and has been bringing happiness to thousands of Filipino children ever since.

For many, Happy Meal has become part of their childhood memories. Every generation can relate to that rush of excitement in receiving and opening one – the sheer delight of discovering what toy lies inside while enjoying their favorite McDonald’s meal with the family. Starting November 21, Filipinos get to relive some of those memories as they would get to unbox fourteen of the most memorable Happy Meal toys of the last 40 years. They’ll get to participate in the surprise of guessing which throwback Happy Meal toy they’ll receive when purchasing a Surprise Happy Meal as each one is packed in a blind bag, building up excitement that comes with unboxing a Happy Meal.

“McDonald’s Happy Meal has been surprising kids and families with shared moments of happiness, and it promises to do so once again by bringing in a touch of nostalgia with the Surprise Happy Meal,” said Christina Lao, Marketing Director of McDonald’s Philippines.

Keep your eyes peeled for the reveal of the toy designs very soon, and make sure to grab your McDonald’s Surprise Happy Meal in participating branches in the Philippines starting November 21, 2019, while supplies last!
